Iacocca dead at 94

They weren't bad little cars. A girl I dated right after high school had a few of them. They were super cheap to replace when they broke down or died, or she wrecked one, which was about every six months. Always another one that nobody wanted out there that I could pick up for $100.
I have had a bunch of escorts over the years....

Oh wait, we're talking about cars.

I had 3 of those as well, an 88.5, an 91, and a 94. The 88 got the best mileage (it was a pony model with a TBI 1.9 and a 4speed and power nothing), the 91 was the best all around (quickest, most reliable, most comfy, had a SEFI 1.9 with a 5 speed), the 94 was a POS with a SEFI 1.9 and a auto.

My dad had a pinto when i was about 10 or 12, he got rear ended by another pinto. Neither burst into flames.

I had a 1981 Mercury Lynx (Ford Escort) for about a year. That thing was a gutless P.O.S. I hated that car.

Those ran the 1.6L didnt they? I always heard the 1.6 was pretty gutlesa even compared to the early 1.9s but ive never drove one.

If I remember correctly, yes. And it was carbureted with an air pump and a spider web of vacuum lines everywhere. The automatic transmission didn't help either. Before or after replacement.

Ouch, auto to? Screw that lol. The 88 i had was a decent runner as far as econoboxes go, the 91 would of kept up with my 2.9 ranger. The 94 with the auto wouldnt have kept up with my peterbilt. Loaded.

we had a lynx station wagon for about a year too. i don't remember what year, but it was silver with red interior.

My mom and stepdad had a K-car (Aries wagon), with the 2.2 and an automatic. Semis passed that thing going up the mountains.
