Adding PAG oil after A/C repair

Seems like those would be good items to snag from wrecking yards.

I would not run the system without them or something you can figure 8 wire around the connection temporarily or permanently imo

I found the retainer for the high side into the evaporator, but no luck on the low side where it plugs into the accumulator. May have to junk yard that.

They do make an oil injector that hooks up to the manifold gauge set, but I found its just easier to pour it in prior to putting everything together. My compressor was filled when I got it, and I added a couple more ounces to the system prior to reassembling everything, far easier to do than mess with the oil injector and risking sucking in some air.

Pour, draw, push oil in, is all good, if air was introduced by accident or carelessness it's not too terrible if they have vacuum pump and do a two or three evacuation procedures.

it's always good to evacuate once, add a holding charge check for leaks evacuate again, for 3 hours or more, 20 mins is really not long enough for a moisture to evaporate completely.

Only 3 or more hours if you are charging shop time ;). Otherwise an hour is plenty, unless your vacuum pump sucks...no pun intended LOL.

Then use a micron guage :)

I just replaced my compressor on my z71 yesterday. Label stated 8 oz of pag 46 in in compressor. Guess what. There was only around 4. Go figure.
:no2:

If you still have the system open, why not take out the accumulator and dump the oil out, then you'll have a better idea how much is the whole system before you put the new compressor into operation.
Good luck!

I replaced this compressor four months ago. The clutch bearing started to fail and I just got the replacement in this week.

Well that kind of stinks! hope you have better luck with this one!
