The New Global Ford Ranger Build - Videos

As far as rear suspension goes if yours is rated to tow 5k...

I know nothing has been released on the Ranger yet, just saying if that is it that is pathetic.

Towing 5K is not pathetic for a 4 cyl engine.

and that is.......pathetic....:icon_surprised:

the 5k is chassis limit.

I checked my manual collection just now. Max gross combined weight rating for an ‘86 with a 2.9 and 4.10’s is 8500. Not sure how it compares but my std cab longbox ‘85 with all the crap I have added to it and me in it weighs 4K...

OK then we shall cap yours at 4k tow :shok:

Keep in mind....Ford has a truck that will tow or haul what you want. Take your pick of an F-150, 250, 350, 450, 550, etc.

The new Ranger is a "lifestyle" vehicle and is being marketed as such. It's not a work truck. It's not a tow rig. It's basically a four door family vehicle that can haul a motorcycle, canoe, kayak, ATV, jet ski, etc. It's not intended to tow toy haulers or travel trailers.

I am the prime demographic for this truck. I live in a rural area where 4WD will be handy when the weather is bad. I'm an avid motorcyclist who needs to haul his bike to the mountains. But I work smack downtown in a major city. Parking is tight, parking garages have low ceilings, I don't tow anything, haul plywood or drywall, and I don't do yard work or such. And I can't afford to have multiple vehicles. I have to have one "do it all" mode of transportation.

I need a vehicles that is roomy, comfortable, gets decent fuel mileage, can be driven in all weather, and will haul my motorcycle and camping gear on the weekends. Maybe even do some light off-roading on fire roads and such.

If you're Ford marketing, why would you make a truck that competes with your stalwart bread and butter vehicle. The Ranger is not intended to be an F-150 light.

If I was in Ford marketing, if I couldn't build a truck to compete with the competition I don't think it would be worth messing with.

I am not figuring on a camper or hauling my other Ranger, more than an empty car trailer for a tow rating is kind of required for me though. If not, other brands do without getting into the huge fullsizes.

And this is all hypothetical, they haven't released anything yet.
