its friggin interesting how much detail you can see of your home & yard.
did anybody say something about invasion of privacy???
if you examine the shadows closely it can be seen where they did at least 2 passes to get better resolution and a 3D effect on tall items.
like the commercial says,,,,imagine the possibilities

You can be sure that it's not just american corporations that are doing this.

2 years old for me. Pretty grainy really. Before I got my bigger lawn mower and mowed my whole yard (as opposed to shredding some of it) and it looks like I had corn in my field (I had corn this year)

Nobody has been bugging me to get satellite guidance to clean up my row spacing or point row shutoffs to nix my row over runs in my cornfield... or anything else so I guess if they want to laugh at my lines I don't really care.

I think it's crazy that you can go on Wikipedia and get the coordinates of all of our nuclear missile silos, enter them in google maps, and look down on them.

just for the heck of it I looked up the apartment where I lived on Okinawa back in 1974. the street view from that is so good you can see the key hole on door knobs.

"big brother" couldn't care less how straight your rows are, it's the funny weeds between the rows that pique their interest. they filter for certain colors and find exactly what they look for. :icon_surprised:

using just pointing and zooming in I was able to pin point the barracks and "special" comm center I spent 1974 in half way around the world on Okinawa in less than 30 seconds.
ironically from those barracks I watched the SR71s take off from Kadena to check out places like Vietnam and North Korea.

Nah, I'll still take a whizz off the back porch. If they want to point and laugh, I don't care.

Actually that year there was a big bush down by the road... until it had a date with Roundup.

Satellite images for my house are at least 3-4 years old, street view is from 2011.

I find it FAR more disturbing that my county planning and zoning office, and probably yours too, has software that has much more up-to-date satellite images and can detect when new structures are built or old ones are changed and send out tax officer spies accordingly.

They can also do things like take measurements that are accurate down to inches... I found out about this because the previous owner of my house had put my shed 11" too close to my fence (not necessarily the actual property line) and the county had a cow about it when I got a building permit for my shop. I watched the guy measure everything out on satellite images of my yard. Bastards

images of my son's place is from only 4-5 months ago.
his place may get special treatment because it's under the approach to a small airport.

I've been in places that have access to US Geological Survey data. the scary part is that data is B.D. (before drones). now, if you mess with the man he can scan your place within minutes.

HAHA really?! B.D.??? that's an abbreviation that will never take lol. You should have just stuck with typing "before drones" instead of "B.D. (before drones)" that made me laugh. :icon_rofl:
