86 gen 1 sas build

That sounds like your T-case or doubler is stuck in low range. That gear ratio would be correct for the tires. It would be near stock for the speedometer.

Doubler isn't under the truck yet. I am using the 1354m. I'll have to fiddle wth the linkage and go from there. Thanks rowdy!

Oh ok. Ya that would be what I would be inspecting.
No problem bud!

Messed with the tcase shifter and can't get it into neutral. so I ripped it down and opened it and the shift forks are moving but can't find neutral. I found another tcase, I pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully it works.

That's weird. Hopefully this one functions correctly.

Ok..... Another junk yard tcase and we r good to go. Problem solved! 55mph is the safest speed until I get a dshaft built and balanced. Starter isn't engauging all the way so something is loose.
Other awesome news...... I got a new engine and trans! Free!!!
Buddy had a turbo 4cyl Perkins out of a ups truck in his garage. He fired it up on the floor and said the man trans is newly rebuilt! Just wanted it gone. (Sorry to cuss but.... ****ing awesome!) time to burry myself in research!

Awesome! Glad it was a cheap, easy fix!!!

Get that shaft built and drive the hell outta it.

The 4 cyl diesel???

Yeah 4 cylinder turbo diesel. I looked up a couple of things and there is a couple of rangers with the same engine on u tube. It's like the 4bt but different maker.

Oh now I'm jealous!!!

I don't know a lot about it yet only that it runs and was driven in a old bread truck. I got to pick it up this week sometime. I'm super stoked but I really can't find a lot of info online. 4btswaps.com has some but it's hard filtering through the forum. Also u tube is hit and miss but I found a couple videos of them in small trucks.

There are a couple guys on here with diesel Rangers.

The grinding issue with my starter was a bolt that worked out. Fixed it and grabbed the car seat. The boy and I wend for a spin. I definitely need to put my rear shocks back on. We got into the soft silty sand and major axle hop. Easy fix.
I haven't got the new diesel yet but when Ill post a ton of pics and info. Big plans for the ranger!

Got a ton done today. The boy wanted to play in the garage so I took advantage of it. Starter fixed, cb mounted, wires ran for the new lights, basket welded and lights mounted, 2/3rds painted the new color.....
I haven't got the new diesel yet but soon.

looking good man!I like the new solid color, and the roof basket looks good!

Looking good! I like the solid color also.
