My 2011 FX4 mod thread

Oh, and I also sold the stock tires, got $250 for them.

Will be putting on some 265/75-16 fully studded winter tires on the stock rims.

We get nasty winters here, and I LOVE the studded tires, even if some people say they are overkill.

I've decided on the Cooper Discoverer M+S tires. Yeah, I know, it's only June.

I can get these for only $175 each at Canadian Tire, but I'll wait until they have their giant pre-winter tire sale, and see if I can also piggyback a rebate on them from the Mfgr, if possible.

Sometimes they have a buy 3 get one free sale, etc.

I do like my blue emblems, but those black ones on your truck look really nice.

Where did you get them?

Ordered my Flowmaster exhaust today.

It's the stainless cat-back single in/dual out system. I would have preferred aluminized steel over stainless (for cost) but they don't offer this system with that material. Oh well.

Until it gets here, and I install it, you'll just have to live with a stock picture.

How did you remove the old emblem from the tailgate without damaging the paint?

Hair dryer and fishing line.

Set the hair dryer up on a stand, aimed at the emblem for a couple of minutes, then use some high-test fishing line and saw through the adhesive tape behind the emblem until it pops off.

Then afterwards, use some Goo Gone to take off the tape residue, and Windex to clean the tailgate before affixing the new emblem.

I think I've decided against installing the body lift, so if anyone is interested, chime in.

Truck is as high as I'll need it, I think.

The BL is brand New, still in the box, with shifter extension and the plastic gap guards too.
Only opened the box to look inside, no parts have been removed or messed with.

Hit me up. Or it's going on Fleabay.

The flowmaster catback with dual tailpipes is on.

Fitment took a little extra mucking about, and I used a couple of generic muffler hanger brackets and 2-1/2" clamps (for the tailpipes) instead of the provided flowmaster hangers, because of my shackle lift, but that was fairly straightforward, other than being a tad fiddly to get lined up.

No pics yet, I'm waiting on a resonator to splice in ahead of the muffler. It's a tad loud (for my tastes) between about 2500 and 2750 RPM, drones a little too much for my liking, But the rest of the RPM range seems to sound fine, so I have one of these coming:

After I get that installed, I'll toss up a pic or two.

OK, I got the resonator mounted, for now, still need to get it welded, and then I can take off the temporary exhaust clamps you see here.

They're cheapo clamps I got for free, and they deform when you tighten them, so they are gonna go.

Bolted the standard supplied Flowmaster single in/dual out system to the existing flange downstream of the Cat converters.

Cut the 2.5" inlet piping and spliced in the stainless Flowmaster resonator.

It's clamped in place until welding. No, it doesn't rub on the driveshaft, those marks were there from before, no, I don't know from what.

It's not even close to anything, just the camera perspective is weird.

Super 50 series muffler.

Here you can see there is lots of clearance to the driveshaft, that other pic was misleading. There's really about 3" between the resonator and the driveshaft. Not a chance in hell of it rubbing on anything, including the body or frame or anything else.

And the dual outlets.

Best part is, the annoying drone between 2500 and 2750 RPM is TOTALLY GONE.

The truck still burbles nicely but the unpleasant resonant frequencies at that exact RPM range have been damped right out. It's a little quieter everywhere, which is to be expected.

Well now I need to go buy some dang 17s. I'm pleased to see the 33's work with the keys and block/shackle combo as well.

Wait a minute, body lift with shifter extension? I don't suppose it's sitting on kijiji?
