Stopped by my local junkyard yesterday...scored a Saginaw with a remote resi setup for $10. Not sure what its off of...It was laying in a pile of engines. lol The remote resi has a Chrysler logo. I think its from an older Caravan

Since the return barb is in the middle, I can still use the Ford banjo fitting with no interference, unlike the Astro setup

I welded the extra return barb closed since I wont be using it.

I pulled the flow orifice out and drilled it to 5/32, then turned the relief all the way up.

I have a Saginaw p/s pump on the bronco. I'm running an external res off a early 70s C60 Chevy truck. It hold about a quart and has a 5/8 line that goes right over where the factory dipstick was in my pump. Works great. I have never ran out of fluid with my full hydro setup using this plus it was a $5 junkyard deal.

I have less than $10 in the resi itself. Total I'm around 30 bucks with fittings.lol

The big reason for building my own resi was so I could add bungs and make it whatever size I needed.

I am glad you two know whats going on. I know who to call when I start getting into this PSC hydro assist setup that came with this Jhevy thing I got.

Is the box already tapped?

If not, I should be able to put O ring ports in if you would like.

But my access to porting tooling will be gone before long.lol

I dono. I will check. I know it is a PSC box.

Yeah, I will be losing all of my machine and welding hook ups after the 8th. Going to miss those perks. lol

Once I move back to Columbus area, Ill have a lathe and mill to use again, but I wont have the endless supply of tooling, especially the $400-500 porting tools and collets from 1/64 to 2" lol

Swapped out reservoirs last night and popped in the larger flow control and bumped up relief..

Looks like my T bird relief had a single shim.

My pump already had a 5/32 orifice, but it had a lot of restrictive drillings through the banjo bolt and fitting block. My camera died, but I drilled out the banjo to .25" and added a second cross drilling 180* from the original, I also opened up the block to .25"

Before I opened anything up.

I punched this hole straight through.

Put it all together enough to get it out of the shop, but I still haven't mounted the resi or plumbed in the filter/ cooler.

I fired it up and checked the pressure, its just under 1500 PSI. It turns a lot faster/ easier now and the brakes are noticeably more responsive.

My old cooler was setup for 3/8" hose with non removable barbs, so I went on a hunt for a cooler capable of excepting 1/2" lines.

I found this little trans cooler from a 90s Chevy 3/4 ton. It it had goofy quick connect fittings, but the cooler itself has 3/8" NPT. I zipped in a few brass barbs a mocked it up last night, it looks perfect.

I am still waiting on one last fitting for the filter, then I can finish plumbing everything.

I took a 1/2" barb with 3/8 NPT and ran my 5/8-18 die down it to make it straight thread like inverted 3/8 flare. I used this fitting at the box outlet, no installed pics since my phone died...

Im heading home to see my brother this weekend, so Im hopping I can get all this and my belly skid together by Friday so I can wheel Nov 2.

Here is the spool clamp I made. To hold the relief spool in the vise while I break the bolt loose

My original plan was to mount the resi over the pump, but here is my issue....

So I ordered a 90* barb so I could move it up ahead of the accessory drive and down a few inches.

Well, if you had the items to remake the res, you could make one that is laying on it's side, that way it would be a little lower.

Got a little work done last night.

Pulled the header panel/grille off and pulled the old cooler out and made up a bracket to mount up the Chevy cooler.

I swapped the fittings on the filter, but Im still waiting on my 90* 1/2x1/2, but I was able to run all my hoses and cut them to length.

I made a bracket for the reservoir.... that was a TIGHT fit. It is within .125" of the belt, radiator, hood, and AC lines. I am still waiting on a 90* 5/8 barb for the bottom of the resi too. FYI finding 5/8" low pressure hose that can handle ATF was difficult. lol I had to find something local and in stock since I'm out of time lol

Ill take more pics when it isn't dark.lol Hopefully my stock motor mounts dont give to much and let the motor move around too much.

Hopefully I can button up all the power steering tonight then I have left is the belly skid.
