Work In Progress

I figured the gasket set comes with the head gaskets so I was gonna pull the heads and check them before I went and did anything else. It sucks not living close to the shop otherwise I would probably have the motor apart by now.

Shoot just have your buddies come over and crack a cold one:icon_cheers: You might need a new set of head bolts if you take em off. Some of them warp n shiiii.

I might be freakin out for no reason. I just didnt want to have to rebuild or fix the motor I thought I'd have the choice to put whatever motor I wanted in lol. But unfortunately shit happens.

Ya, defiantly your head gasket.
What ever you do. Do not let it sit!!!
If water is sitting in your cylinder it will rust out so fast!!!
Then your talking about having to bore it out.... big money....
Take it apart and get your block dry ASAP.
Also, when ford first made the 2.9l they put sucky heads on them.... You defiantly need to get those checked, they could be warped..... probably need to be resurfaced... for your sake I hope not...
With that said, I am hoping for the best!!!
Good luck man!! this kind of stuff sucks!!

Yeah I want to get down to the shop and get it apart, just to see what I'm workin with. Even if I can't afford to pay for the parts right now like you said at least it won't be rusting and eventually be screwed. Yeah the heads are junk I hear they make better ones but I don't see dumping money in a 2.9 besides the stuff it needs. Thanks man ill probly need it, so I don't just throw a wrench at it and walk away haha.

Very true :thefinger:but I would need a whole lot more than just the motor though. Computer, tranny and wiring harness. But if I can get an automatic tranny that'd be nice. I've been kinda thinkin about goin to a auto. Just for the fact I don't want to burn the clutch up climbing up stuff. Who knows though I might swap one in.

If you go auto you also need the trany lines, radiator and a secondary trans cooler wouldn't be a bad idea! The autos aren't known for being the best so keeping them as cool as possible is a good idea. If you keep the manual just rehear the axels and you'll be cherry!

Re-gear not rehear lol

Yeah if or when I do decide to put a motor in it ill just use whatever tranny is hooked up to the motor. I'm hopin ill just get lucky and get a whole doner so I have pretty much everything I need. I will be regearing the axles but I still think I would be burnin up clutches left and right.

I haven't really burnt much clutch, but then again I only do weekend warrior stuff.

I've burnt two up. One was on a week long campin trip up in Chester area. It made it all the way back home and let go the next day when I left for school. And the other was because my sister was learning how to drive a standard and went through it pretty quick.

On another note I popped the hood on the truck and was just lookin around and I seen a crack on both heads. So the 2.9 is comin out and whatever I come across is what's gonna take its place. Non-op here I come!:annoyed:

Once you re-gear the axels you'll have more power plus you'll move slower so you won't have to slip the clutch so much. Plus if you build a doubler for it you would have even more power and wouldn't need to slip the clutch at all.

Yeah I never really looked at it that way. But a doubler is way down the road.
