all vehicles get better fuel mileage on the open road, and the highway, then they do in town, UNLESS you got a hybrid, then it's the opposite.

Unless it is at a constant speed or you do not have overdrive.

Mine gets better in town than hwy. A 302 moves a lot of fuel held right up against the secondaries at 60mph.

I get 11mpg at 65, 12 at 60 and 14.95 at 50-55. I'm lookin for a 5spd so I can improve it.

My secondaries don't open unless i get on it to hard or go past what i think is half throttle in a short time. I know that because i think they hand open and my engine has a high idle that doesn't go down until i shut the engine off and restart it, only then does it go back to "normal". But I'm but sure what all in a Holley is vacuum controlled that would allow for the high idle to be happening.

As for the fuel gauge, i will have to wait for the weather to clear up to see what has come loose, hopefully something simple that i can fix since I'm living in an apartment now with the fiancée. Still just annoyed, pissed, etc...about the gauge just not working all the suddely but at least i know when to fill up when driving nothing but in town driving, which is about 30miles till i hit a half tank from and 1/8 from the still mark.

Got the fuel gauge working. The connector on the sending unit popped up enough to break the connection. Just reached up and pushed it back on. Only down a little more then a quarter tank after 55 miles of driving.

The first tank it had, the float had a hole in it. My dads old 84 was the same way. This float is in good condition, it was when i last saw it almost three years ago.

Buy Lots and Lots of Guns, mostly Shot Guns, and Rifles, and hang them all over the walls.


This way when she gets older and brings a boy home, he'll get the idea not to mess with her, just be sure to be sitting there cleaning one of them.

Not sure but while driving today it seemed and felt like the truck wasnt firing on one cylinder and still idles when it wants to and its getting annoying fast. I need to find a better carb, not liking Holley carbs at all. To many peices and need constant adjustment to stay in tune.
