Hello all. I'm new to the forum, and bought my first ranger last year about this time. First thread so I apologize if this is in a place it shouldn't be. But I found a 4" rough country suspension lift kit made for an I beam, years 86- 92 or something. On my 87, I have a stock ttb axle. I was wondering if this lift will work for my truck. If I find out how to post a picture I will, because I want to be sure all the bracketry is there too, if it works of course. Thank you guys in advance.

if im correct ibeam suspension is only on newer rangers and cause from 82-98 is ttb i beleive but not sure on years, but no it wont work u need a lift for a ttb

There are two types of beam suspension, tib= twin I beam - it's two wheel drive, and ttb=twin traction beam - it's four wheel drive.
You want to make sure it's correct for your truck.
Good luck

No, they do not interchange 2wd to 4wd. You need a lift kit for a 4wd truck.

thats where i went wrong i was thinking of ifs not ibeam so x2 on 85ranger

This is true for someone who knows Fords. Most people use the terms interchangeably and have no clue what they are talking about.

You cant go by someones term for something...Is the lift for a 2wd or 4wd?

That is what I meant/implied. Thanks for explaining it better.

509, again, please be careful posting information.

The years are 1983-1997 for the TTB & TIB suspension on Ranger.
The years are 1998-2012 for the IFS suspensions on Ranger.

The years are 1990-1994 for the TTB suspension on Explorers.
The years are 1995+ for the IFS suspensions on Explorers.

Just make sure it is the 83-97 4WD 4x4 configuration. It is really Twin Traction Beam, but like Sno stated, it can be confusing.
