dangerranger1983 build

The one that is on has an off center open on it that allows the use of running a bigger filter housing which also keeps it from hitting the dizzy too. I plan on running a different one, you know one of a 60s or 70s 302 to give it that old school look, but also make it so that I can run piping to the outside cool air. I just thought about it and I could run the one of my carb from my 2.8 but I don't have a filter that will fit it and it will make the top sit on goofy and I don't want that. The biggest I can go if I did go with the chrome open filter is ten inches in diameter.

I would love to happen apaun a '80's Mustang dual snorkel. I don't know how that would play with your tall dizzy though.

I don't care about water/mud getting that high, I just don't like how the open element gets dirty whether I drive it or not. IMO if that is a possiblity anything other than a real snorkel is a liability.

Otherwise I love the looks of the open... just not if you park it in a dirt floor shed or gravel parking lot whenever it is not on the road.

The open filter look good but I went with what I had laying around and so far free is working. I want to get it or another housing to suck the cooler air from the outside since right now it is sucking hot air from the headers and the rest of the engine bay.

Also gave all the scrap metal to a co-workers friend since I don't have time to get rid of it and I will say the truck drives smoother down the road and doesn't have a struggle feeling in fourth gear while doing 35-40 mph either.

I also think my 7.5 will handle my driving habits just fine, the fastest speed limit that I have in town is 40 mph and I go 5 over at best and don't have a need to get on the skinny pedal. I do wonder what 3.08 gears would do for me later down the road since the engine doesn't have a hard time pushing my truck down the road and taking turns in third gear that my last setup had to take in second while at a rolling turn.

Got a cover made for the trans tunnel finally. Got the metal a few years ago from the brother in law, he got it off a John Deere of some kind. With the help of some card board to make a template, cutter, wether strip and done sheet metal screws you get an ugly but functional piece of art made by me.

I also used my old ranger shifter boot, I just cut it in half.

That shifter is really far foreword, do you have any problems shifting it? Also super jealous, can't wait to get mine done.

I had to cut it an inch just above where it comes out of the shifter assembly and that was enough to clear my dash. The only bad thing is I can't use my ash tray in my dash due to when I shift into third, it would smack it and not allow me to assist into third but if I mod. the handle some more I can eliminate that problem. I will say the cover makes it much quieter in the cab and hopefully I won't get gassed out either.

After I took that picture, I cleaned out the inside of my truck and cleaned out the bed.

Sweet! Yours trans is almost 2" further forward than mine. I like the color though!

That's what the color of the metal piece was and I see no point in painting it, I don't see it ever rusting through and whatnot, plus it just adds more character to the truck.

I painted my 6x14 trailer that color, and I painted the wheels John Deere yellow, no every time I pull it to town, people are always asking to buy it.

Ain't nothing wrong with John Deere Green, in fact you got a extra 20 hp for adding to the truck.

I think my filler neck has a leak in it but due to photobucket having problems with me uploading right now (yes I have cleared alot of pics off of it) no pics to show. Its the first time I have filled it up this much in a month or since a week before the swap so idk atm.

a few other people are having problems with uploading to photobucket.

Can't get on trs with tapatalk on the internet tablet do guess the phone will do.

After some driving at highway speeds all day, I got 55 miles to the quarter tank vs the 40 meaning I am around 200 - 220 miles to the tank vs my old 160 -170 which is a nice improvement. Or around 13-14 mpg.

That what i get with my 2.9 :dunno::bawling:

Hows driving it, does it have decent power?

My last engine trans combo got me to a max of 65mph with my foot to the floor. This setup, 65mph isn't anything and I can go way faster then that and not take long to get there either. Plus the new setup fights a head wind nicely.

Also drive around town for awhile and had the engine to operating temperature, stopped the truck while it was on to see how will the fan was cooling stuff off, it was on and the radiator was basically ice cold, you could hold your hand on it all day long. I just need to get a temp footage on the truck again and see exactly what the temp is.

I need to get the Speedo cable hooked up better, the zip ties around the transfer case holding it on work fine but due to the bolt for the holder was broken into the case, I will have to use this for now.

I really need to get working on a new trans cross member to get her back to 4wd again and get the reverse lights hooked up too.

The 7.5 seems to be holding up nicely, no noise or complaints from it so I think it will be fine as long as I keep driving the truck the way I am.
