They put the wrong flange on the end. They put a small bolt pattern and I needed the big one. called them and it showed that it was supposed to have a large bolt pattern installed but someone put the wrong one on. They did say they will give me a free shirt for the trouble. So I have to wait another week to get it back.

You mean to tell me they dont have a flange in stock? It literally takes 5 minutes to swap out that flange if those parts are new.

They have the flange in stock they just put the wrong bolt pattern on. Its just easier for me to send it back and have they swap it out. Plus it was their fault, and they realized that. That's why are paying for it to be sent back and shipped to me.

Hopefully they expedite it back to you.

shaft is scheduled to be here Tuesday. Hopefully they send that free shirt and some stickers for the tool box.

How long has it been since you've driven it?

its been a good solid 2 months since its had a real drive. I have been starting it every week or so and getting it up to operating temps, but that is about it.

On my last start-up for some reason I decided to shift through the gears.(guess I miss driving a stick) I did find out that the vibration was never in the d-shaft. It would start vibing once I hit 3rd gear. This gear has always had a bad bearing from the beginning. The guy I bought it from said it worked just fine when pulled but he lied. Guess that's what you get for a $80 transmission. 3rd wasn't to bad but 5th is horrible. I have only used 5th one time and that was the first time on the bypass.

So its either in the transmission or the tcase. I am going to check and see if the rear flange on the tcase some how came loose. I did have it off when I put the front of a JY 1354 flange to get that old shaft to work. Its a possibility. I have been looking for a brand new or rebuilt unit but haven't had much luck. allstategear has a new one for $1085 and a reman for $865.

The transmissions are easy to rebuild, done two of them. The 5th gear in mine has a lot of noise too.

You can get a bearing kit for around $250. A kit with new synchros and bearings for around $400 give or take. I got my bearings from a place in Texas. Can't remember the name off hand, I'm at work but I can look it up when I get home.

Is this all that would be needed to rebuild it?

That's either a dead link or my phone is retarded.

That place I buy from is Texas Gear. I'll try to get a number for you.

EDIT: had the wrong name. It's Southwest Gear Texas. Here is the website. They were the only ones I could find that carried parts.

Does that place sell the entire rebuild kit or just the syncros?

Also is there a way to tell how many teeth are on the 5th gear synrco without pull the thing apart?
