Concealed Carry Pistol Thread

Well my gf got me a Glock 26. (shutters) I feel dirty now; however, parts are cheap and plentiful just like Chevy parts. I found a complete tactical kit; TFO sights, 3.5 lbs trigger job, extended slide release, extended mag release that, that I am going to get soon. With a few other things.

yeah, then let us know how that goes when you give away a gift that your g/f just bought you

i love the 1911's. but wouldn't wanna carry one. i can't really explain it.. i just like the feel of the xd more

And I would never carry anything else, because my familiarity
with a 1911 is on the level of instinctive.

Something about disaasembling and reassembling one blindfolded
and practicing that until it takes <90seconds.

And yeah it doesn't have a double stack mag, but I can reload it about as fast as many can fire a second aimed shot..

Yeah about that.........................I bought it for myself but said it was from her. It is simpler that way. I tend to hold on to guns. You can never have to many guns. Having enough ammo for said guns is a matter of opinion.

Man that baby eagle looks awesome.

I would love to get my permit but I can't come up with a reason that I need to carry. I think just self defense isn't going to cut it.

So, your life isn't worth saving? Your family members?

Well I would think so but the main reasons they give you a permit is if you carry over $1000 at all times, have been threatened, or have a restraining order against someone. From what I understand any other reason is a 50/50 yes/no.

yeah, uh... safety for you and others. I'm not saying use it if someone takes your wallet, but if someone is holding you at gunpoint or a hostage situation. sure, it doesn't happen that much....but it can happen. one of those I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

I'll give you a story:
we had to pick up my uncle at the bus station in Memphis one night, we had a group of guys walking towards our truck with one hand behind their back... it was my dad, mom, and I; when my dad reached toward his waist band...the 3 guys changed directions and went the other way, come to find out they had small bats in their hands. don't know what their plans were but i know they were not friendly plans.

They dont give you a permit so you can carry $1k around with you, they give you a permit so that if the situation comes up that you new to protect your life or others lives that you have it and have the opportunity to do so.

I'm sorry but you have the dumbest point of view of carrying I have ever heard of.

It doesn't matter wether in carrying a penny or 1 million bucks around I have the right to do so and I have the right to protect myself from someone who wants to illegally take it or my life getting to it.

Also if one person would have been carrying in the CO shooting last week I bet it all would have turned out alot different. Would lives still have been lost? Probably, But not nearly as many casualties and injures. And the best part? That douche would probably be dead instead of our tax Money keeping him alive for the next 50 years.

I for one, carry every single place I legally can.

Exactly. There shouldnt be such a thing.

That's another reason why I love KY, no weapons signs dont hold the weight of law here. I can walk right past them and not look twice. Except places like judicial center, police station etc.

But with full riot gear I do wonder how the average pistol would have performed though. You would ruin his day for sure in the dark of a theator it would be hard to tell how good of a hit you have on him and if was really out of the fight or just rubbing a welt... especially if he was on something (like say Vicadin, which the Co shooter was)

Its probably a MD thing. Couple friends of mine tried to get their permits and "self defense" is NOT acceptable UNLESS you constantly carry large amounts of money say for work, you have been threatened, or have a restraining order on someone.

Hell a guy I used to work with was 37 at the time tried to get his to take it with him to work. We were working under interstate 95 in the heart of Baltimore City at night replacing the underground network. All of a 3 year job to go through the whole city. State Police said not a chance.

Edit: his record was clean besides a couple traffic violations over the past 7 years.
