My 97 2.5 SFA Ranger

Thank, Im fixing to do a d30 swap into my ranger, so I'm trying to get everything I need before I start cutting on mine

Get the better tie rod off of a V8 ZJ instead of a TJ/YJ/XJ. The ZJ one is solid vs the rest are hollow. I bent one my first trip out in my XJ and 33's bent it back and bent it again on the same trip. The solid ZJ one is lasting a lot better.

Maybe the PO of my D30 put a ZJ tierod on the axle.
The long tierod on mine is a solid piece of steel. :icon_confused:

Thanks cdawall and 5speedin2.3, I figured I would bashed on here for saying I was gonna do a SAS with a d30. But its free so I'm gonna roll with it til it breaks

They are just as strong as the factory D35, if not stronger. :icon_cheers:

I plan on welding a peice of angle on to my TRE. Cheaper and should do the trick.

UGH! GROSS! WEAK SAUCE! DANA 30?!

Haha, just thought you were looking for abuse. It's free, but the effort seems more than the payoff to me ;) But you aren't me, are you?

...or are you?

I don't wanna pull the TTB out, that doesn't seem logical to me when I got a front axle laying in the corner of my brothers shop.
I twisted the frame on my 1990 model so I bought a 1992 2wd and I got a d30 give to me and it's got a set of 4.10 so I'm doing a SAS on the 1992 and I pulled my drivetrain to put into the 1992 model and I got some 4.10 for the rear give to me too

My truck was 2wd at one time. I didn't have a D35 to begin with.

Same here.

The D30 is cheap and easy to do an axle swap, or 4wd conversion.

That's what I did. And it has worked for me.

When we had the Indy meet, thats when I saw it and seen how to do it. I think mine is slightly bent right now but not worried.

They are stronger than the EB D44's are stock. The EB D44's only have a 260X joint stuffed in them. The late model D30's have a 297X (760X) joint in them. There is very little strength gain going to an old ass D44. The old shafts are weaksauce compared to modern D30 shafts. Most guys blow ujoints in both axles either way. The only proper way to upgrade a D30 is to plop in a D60.

hey I live sooooooo clsoe to you that speedy shop is right down the street from me.lol.

I'm the kid who drive the clean 92' with cobra wheels
