I have found quite a bit about power windows, but nothing about manual. If I turn the crank, it will turn and keep on clicking, but the window does not roll up. I managed to get it up all the way by applying upwards pressure on the window while doing this and slowly turning the crank. The window rolls down just fine, however.

What's wrong? I'm guessing something is stripped? I think it's strange it will roll down just fine, but not up.

On a side note, the window crank has been difficult to turn for years. I don't think the window was seated properly in the track because it takes significantly more effort to roll the window up and down than on the passenger side.

Maybe time for a new mechanism. Take off the door panel and see what the unit looks like. Striped? Maybe something caught in there. One of my buddy's had some crap that got wedged in the crank area. That was an easy fix. The unit is easy to replace.

probably the window regulator is worn out

It will be your windoe regulator for sure. Couple of bucks at the local pull-n-pay and you can get a replacement.

WHAT?

nobody told him to turn the truckupside down to make the window easier to roll up?????

tsk....tsk.....tsk....

The collective intellect here says window regulator, I wouldnt be surprised in the least if they are correct. BUT, I'd check the crank handle to make sure it isnt stripped before I go buying a regulator. I had one with a stripped handle that "clicked" until it was completely stripped.

Like DG said... Turn the truck over whenever you need to roll the windows up...uummmm.....down..yeah down when your upside down. Wait if the UPside is down.... oh whatever...closed, thats it.

I have some xxxtra Prozakkkkk that could help you work thru that little problem.....yours tryly....errrr...truly, D.G.

I will check the crank handle first.

I don't really have a selection of junk yards. A search on car-part.com revealed the closest one with the part is at least 30 minutes away.

I will probably just order online. Does this look right? I've never replaced a window regulator before and I didn't imagine it looks like it does in that picture. :dunno:

Come down to Perth Amboy. I'll give you a whole door for $25.

is that the one spec'd for your truck and year?

because it doesnt look quite right to me :dunno:

Funny thing about the manual and power windows on the older Rangers, most of the info about one applies to the other. They are basically the same system, one has a switch and motors, the other has handles. The regulators are functionally identical.
