daily doubler build

Does everyone catch on to the re-occuring theme here.... airsoft BB's are crap!

Use proper steel/copper BB's and they work fine!

Do you have a link or name of book for the heat straightening?
Thanks,

Richard

I just googled "thermal upsetting" and "heat straightening".

It's popular for bridge and crane repair.

Fully welded the strap on the second one and got the same heat pull I saw on the first one.

I'm starting to get the hang of this heat straightening thing. I figured out the process on the first one, this one I was striving for perfection. I'm quite pleased with the results.

Then I cut my rockers.

And mocked the sliders in place just to see how it looks.

I'm going to try to kick ass and get em done by Friday. We're wheelin at the Badlands this weekend - with or without sliders.

Bray those sliders are looking awesome, and it's even better that you did some research into their development!

Thanks man. I put more design work into these sliders than I have any other piece on my truck. Even though its more mental masturbation than anything, it's good to let the numbers make decisions for you every once in a while.

I've learned a lot during this project.

If I ever get the $ to start working on my truck again, I may have to borrow your design.

When will you know if you got in to UA bray? sliders are looking real pretty.

Sliders are done. I went to the badlands this weekend and already scratched em all up. haha. I'll post up pics probably tomorrow evening.

Hoping to get a call early May. I've been in contact with Pewe, and sent him revised pics with the new wheels/tires/sliders. Hopefully he likes the new look.

Here's the rest of the slider build.

I already posted the design work for the supports. My supplier didn't have tube the size I needed, so I fabricated them.

Made cardboard templates and cut the plate

Clamped it together

Got both supports on both sliders welded up. Here's a comparison pic - new vs old design

This is the ledge that owned my last set of sliders. Multiple failed attempts resulted in bent sliders. I still had to try pretty hard to get up it this time, but the sliders fared well, and I made it up.

Sliders doing work

Beadlocks probably saved me from losing a bead on this one

The only time I had to winch the entire day. If my passenger front would've slid into that notch, it would've been nasty. Better safe than sorry.

so, what do you think of the KM2's?

Sliders are looking good.

Do you notice considerable advantage of the 37s vs 35s?
