Fender trimming or more lift?

That could work. I got a set of 6" flares that came with my crewcab if your interested. Never been mounted and looks like the body lines would match good

Why not cut out flares for a ranger?

You planning on wheeling this thing? If so rubber is the way to go....bushwacker style stuff usually ends up in pieces on the trail.

CUT THE CRAP OUT OF THEM!! Its is a wheeling rig, there is no way that the sheet metal is going to look good after 1 trip out anyways

I might be. Not sure how well its going to work though. lol

What kind of rubber flares are you talking about...brand? The only flares I thought of were bushcrapper. And I do plan on wheeling this thing.

I think you're right!:icon_thumby:

I'm going to get it driving before I cut the fenders.

I think they are talking about the Pacer Flexy Flares......

here is a pic of some on SVT's rig

KyleM also has used them as well as a few others.....not real wide but does an excellent job of cleaning up cut fenders if I do say so.....

Thanks! I think I am going to use those exact flares. They are $150 for 25ft. I just removed the pinstripe yesterday and its looking better...except my truck is a different shade of white inside the pinstripe.

I plan on cutting my fenders as soon as I get my track bar built...so I can flex it out, measure for shocks, and cut the fenders!

I have the Pacer flares on mine also. I kindof like how they look (and being made of rubber, they shouldn't get left on that rock or tree you happen to brush up against).

They do stick out only about 2¼" or so, so they won't be enough to satisfy Johnny Law if he decides to come after you (even on mine, the edge of the tire is about ½" or so past the flare since switching from BFG MTs to a set of GY MT/R-Ks).

Thanks 4x4junkie! I saw on another forum about your flares (you posted there) and I don't mind the looks. Also, I thought there are 2 different widths of Pacer flares...I believe its 2.5" and 4.5"...I would get the wider one.

Haven't you had them on for over 5 years now?

The 4.5" ones are lip-mount only.

Probably a little over 6 years now (I think it was end of '05 I got them, maybe 1st part of '06... I forget exactly). Still look the same as new (no sun/ozone rot that I've noticed).

It says they have 4.25" side mount ones on Pacers site. http://www.pacerperformance.com/

Did you just use screws to secure your flares?

I used sheet metal screws and fender washers.

Ok thats what I thought!

I have been thinking of a different idea in my head.

Basically I'm thinking of building flat top fenders like a Jeep but out of DOM and welded to the frame. It will be flush with the body at the bottom. But it will point outwards while going to the top of the wheel arch...and it will be flat at the top and it will go back down. Kinda showing my idea...and maybe incorporating it into my sliders:icon_thumby:

This is what I'm thinking...

Oh, those are new (they didn't have those even just a year ago, or at least JCWhitney didn't anyway). Good deal then.

I made a wire support out of some 3/16" rod that goes around the inside with tabs at each screw to secure them. This forces them against the body a bit better where the body contours down near the bottom (I can take a pic of it if you want).

Looking at that pic, maybe I already see a wire in it at the base of the flare (as well as at the lip)?

Yeah i'd like a pic!

I think I might go ahead and give these a try...they will cover most of my tire!:icon_thumby:
