Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

I like your parts chart. We are getting mostly the same parts. It looks like you are planning to get the inserts for the knuckles that you just drill out and press in for over the knuckle steering right?Do you know if those will work on the pitman arm also?

And have you talked to duff about using their trac bar mount? Also I wasn't sure a 15'' wheel would fit over the calipers on a d44, maybe I read something wrong somewhere?

I will be reaming the pitman arm, I have an Xcut reamer and possible the knuckles too. If I have to run a 16" wheel I will but my father runs 15's on his ford outer 44 with no clearance issues with his calipers. Will duffs bracket work on a ranger?

Pitman arm is a no go for those inserts...not enough meat on the arm and the inserts are too tall to fit properly. Pitman arm needs to be reamed to accept larger TRE's.

^Correct if I run inserts they will be on the knuckles only.

i've been told a lot you can run 15" rims.. i think you'll be fine.

!5" wheels fit a ford 44 with caliper sanding. Ive ground several of my buddys calipers to fit with no problems afterward. the more backspace the less grinding. I usually run a 3.5 BS so i dont have too much to grind

What did 1978 F150's come equipped with from the factory? Wheel wise?

16x7.5

edit:
just realized you said F150 not 250 lol
F150 came with 15X7.5"

Been a long day at work

A while ago I emailed duff about a trac bar mount to do a SAS and they emailed me a part number that wasn't on their web site. I need to give them a call pretty soon and make an order. I am pretty sure it is the same one that foxracin is running on his exploder.

Oh nice. When you get it and install it I wanna see some pics, feel free to post here. If it is one less thing to fab I'm all for it and would not hesitate to purchase anything from Duff, they have always pleased me in the past :icon_thumby:

EDIT, forward me the email or the P/N I'd like to know more about this track bar mount...I'm a big fan of bolt on shit

Good news. Got the carrier today. Bad news, it's the same carrier that I already have (not a 3.92 and up carrier) :annoyed:

Should be almost 2-3/8" for the deck height.

can't you get thick cut gears or something and use that carrier?

Yeah but I shouldn't have too just cuz some dumbass packaged up the wrong carrier. Plus I am not even sure they make reverse, thick cut gears and if they do I'm betting they are more expensive (more material)....

yeah, i'm not saying you shouldn't get your issue corrected!
i just thought there was a way to use those carriers for lower gears.

Well I am positive there is thick cut gears for standard cut, low pinion axles but very unsure of their existance for high pinion axles.

God I hate when shit like this happens. Hopefully the seller will not be a douche, and make it right.and I won't hurt his Ebay rep :icon_thumby:

go ghetto on him if need be... just remember to document everything that happens so we can laugh at you/him :icon_rofl:

He already sent the old one out no cost to me and told me to keep the 3.73 down....guess I'll have two of them to sell :headbang:

I might go drop like $300 on AR parts tomorrow.....take a break from the 44 (though a cross pin and balljoints are on the agenda).
