Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

That's about all tall as mine. You have a little ground clearance than me though. I'm sitting at 18" at the skid plate, and the skid sits 2" lower than the frame. But, I am on 35's.

Well, that is to the frame, my radius arms are 2" below my frame. My skid will also be about 1.5" below the frame too.

Shifters installed. They work good

Started the skid, but I have lots more to go.

Shifters are awesome. Good work.

So is this all just a copy & paste thread from GL4x4 or do us Ranger guys get some "extras" ?

GL was the copy paste thread, this is the original lol.

Well, today was a blast, but rough lol. I started out telling myself I was gonna take it easy toda
y, that lasted about 5 min. I uncorked the 5.0, and when the tranny worked right, it screamed. Seems like I had issues getting it into first and it would bog it. Then the trans started pissing fluid out the front pump seal or something inside the bell house. I beat on it pretty hard up to this point, but I wasnt satisfied. So I put in more tranny fluid and went back to beating it. Ended up catching air, and blew the front 60 yoke apart, then the drive shaft wiped out my shifter linkages.

All-in all, it did great, felt very stable and had lots of power. Only took a coupled pictures, maybe there will be some video or other pictures later from other guys there.

It sounded like the engine was still running rough through your exhuast, sounded like it was off like maybe the timing or something, and it def seemed like you were in 2nd gear all the time. Seemed like you could get any wheel speed from a stand still till it gained a little speed and rpm then would start to move.

What stall is that convertor suppose to be?

It is a stock converter.

Guess I will pull the plugs and check them. Maybe look for vacuum leaks too. Sounded good most of the time in the truck, but would load up and bog, but not sure if it is the motor or trans causing that.

I'll get it figured out

The motor didn't sound smooth, now and then I could see the tailpipe load up rich. You need to verify all your sensor grds and maybe double check your timing.

Ok, ill do that. Just pull the codes and check timing, then go from there.
