Funniest Repair Orders you've seen?

I've had some bad ones but the worst work order I've had is this customers icemaker that didn't work.

Wonder why, maybe that's cause they shut off your water.

You must have some really special people working at the AZ near you, a few of the people at the one by me know what they are talking about. They helped me chase down a charging issue once. I wont set foot in an oreilys near me, everything is locked up in cages and the people are dumb.

Actually you would be the exception.

Every Autozone I've ever been to is full of retards and it's also damn near impossible to get someone to ring you up if you aren't buying a part. It seems every 6 months I forget how much I hate Autozone for the sake cf convenience and go in to buy something small like a cleaning product or oil. A 10 minute wait later, even though I'm the only person at the register, I promptly put all my products on the counter and walk out. Happens every time.

When AZ stopped requiring employees to be knowledgeable about cars is when it started going downhill. The current inventory system is exactly the same as what you find online. So my question is why bother having someone there at the counter? Just put a computer at the front and let people help themselves.

Funniest version of alignment issues...

Guy brings car in for alignment, car doesn't track straight. Car is set up good, apparently compensated for road crown, but, guy is pretty small, maybe 120 pounds, so let's compensate for the guy.

Car comes back, same complaint only worse now... check alignment with guy in the car to be certain. Everything is good... test drive... no problems...

Ask the guy some additional questions because of failure to replicate condition...

He's like "Oh, I never noticed it, but my wife complains about it all the time, that's why I brought it in."

Can you have her come her come in so we can figure out what she is experiencing?

"Sure..."

Turns out he's 120 pounds, but she is somewhere north of 500....

A few years ago I was working for a contractor on a military base... I worked on a M988 once where the brake fluid had turned into gel. Everything had to be disassembled and cleaned out... blew out the steel lines with air and got a pile of purple spaghetti.

The brakes were still actually working when it came in, just not very well. Best I could figure was some Soldier poured in some DOT3 some time in the past and it managed to work it's way through the entire system.

I got in an argument with a guy at NAPA one day - he kept insisting I was wrong to want the larger 8.8 bearings for my Navajo. I can't remember now how I convinced the guy to let me buy them, but it was rediculous. I still shop there, though.

I'm dreading this when I finally change out something to non-stock:icon_welder:
Luckily any of the employees at any of the parts stores down here know quite a few things but then again there is a surplus of mechanics and stuff in south texas lol. Anyways I have noticed that down here AZ in particular has been hiring a lot of women...so not to speak ill of women but i've already run into some situations where I have to tell them they are wrong...

Women bring in the dudes. They are marketing. I work pt at an AZ. Its amazing the lack of knowledge most of the employees have. Its like that at Oreillys, Advance, and NAPA. The people at NAPA and Oreillys are just rude.

It differs where ever you go. Each has their positive points. It doesnt represent the company as a whole.

Dude if the girls at Orielly her are for the guys to look at, I want to burn my eyes out with acid. I find that the people that know what they are doing are the one's you talk to. To me; Napa is for the hardcore parts that need to be quality as well as close to oem you can get. Orielly is for light bulbs, oil, and parts that don't matter much "wear parts". Autozone to me is the harbor freight of autoparts.

Ok you'll get a kick outa this one boys.

Guy came in today looking for u-bolts. He said he had a 1980 GMC Jeep with a 6 cyl. V8 :icon_confused:

The guy was DEAD SERIOUS :icon_rofl:

I believe he had a 1980 Jeep CJ7 with an AMC V8

you haven't heard? It was a limited production run with a modular engine! :icon_twisted:

I thought maybe he had blown 2 pistons through the block and was still trying to run it :D

Got one today, the sink in the garage bathroom has been reported to be leaky several times by the workers down there. We got a work order in at maintenance to fix the leak. As it turns out every time they send the work order out we go down there, turn the handle, and call it fixed. The handle has a little give to it (as do all the handles) so it wont turn off if you turn it too far. But there's arrows and notches lining it up where the shutoff is!

We're making plans up for a bracket so they can't turn the handle too far, it's sad we have to dummy proof a sink handle.

The knowledge of workers at parts stores definitely varies from place to place. However, I do try to avoid auto zone whenever possible. Where I used to live, auto zone and o'reilly's really sucked, Napa was good but the workers were jerks, and Advance was my favorite. Where I live now, the people at napa are really nice and very helpful, and the other places pretty much suck. Advance sucks the least, but still sucks.

The receptionist from the company we lease our shop from called me today. She said "My steering wheel doesnt work."

She picked it up from her mechanic yesterday and today her "steering wheel doesnt work!"

Turns out she has a problem with the power steering. I havent checked it yet, so I dont know exactly whats wrong.
