im not denying that the A4LD is a weak box...it is. but you cant see the future any better than i. you cant state that the second he starts to roll with this setup his trans is going to fall out of the bottom of the truck and inch its way to wherever it is that small animals go to die. ive personally seen A4LD's tow and haul massive amounts of weight for many a mile with no fuss...they are also reputed to be able to stand up to 300HP with proper preperations. ive also seen many puke while driving around with an unloaded rig.
maintainence, mileage, and driving style are all deciding factors. it helps that this is a later model A4LD fronted by a 4.0 in question. both of these factors attribute to the trans. having several reliability upgrades from earlier years.
