I have a '03 Ranger with a 4 cyl. I recently backed into a stump and badly bent my tailpipe. Should I get it repaired or what would happen if I just cut it off after the last exhaust support?

Cutting end off exhaust?

Most states require that the exhaust at least exit from under the body of the vehicle. I would cut the bent end off and then go get an exhaust tip or an elbow and put on there to try and make it the original length.

Well, I wouldn't. I'd build something ridiculous, but given what I am guessing to be your skill level, that's what I'd recommend.

Don't know if they've changed it, but TX used to just require it extend far enough to exit out from under the cab of a pickup. Should be an easy enough fix, though.

Quick and dirty would be to open the crimp up with a hammer and a pry bar or piece of pipe. Doesnt have to be perfect . As long as the exhaust isnt hissing , it will be fine.

If it's kinked, he won't be able to fix it on his own...plus the engine could start overheating...plus exhaust fumes from a "short exhaust pipe" will cause stuff/bed to rot over time

get it repaired....

or learn to DIY....and save some $$$$ for your next modification....

everybody had to start somewhere :yahoo:

Ah, this brings back memories of changing the system on my '72 Gran Torino Sport over to duals.

Let's just say that self-drilling/tapping screws and silicone seal is not the best way to go......

I did the same thing offroading, now mine dumps right after the muffler

Go to a cheapy muffler joint. They can cut off the old piece and graft on a new for less than you can.
