The gun thread...

SKS take down isn't hard.
SKS is a good place to start for the price, what country of origin are you thinking about?
Yugo sks do not have chrome lined barrels. But if you're not shooting surplus, probably not important.

VZ58s are still being imported into Canada(also still a used battle rifle, so not likely to be discontinued). Seems like there are 3 different manufacturers or at least names they go by. Originally there were 2 barrel lengths, the ~15" normal one were restricted in Canada, so they also made a 18.5" one for Canada as it's non-restricted with that barrel length here.
Time past, and now they have shortys with 10" 8" barrelled rifles like that up here now. Restricted still, but people like cool range toys.
Some are plastic, wood, or beaver puke furniture.

Funny how quickly we got over run by vz58s once it was realized they weren't an AK Variant.

Cabela's has "Romanian" ones on sale... but they have Yugo's pictured and have as far as I can tell Yugo model numbers. Somebody even asked on their website and the reconfirmed that they are Romanian. From what I have been able to find the Romanians are pretty much identical to the Russians. I need to get back up there and see what they are for a gun for sure.

The chrome barrel isn't a big deal to me so long as the last series of guys took care of it.

Bagged me a Nutrea with my Beemann pellet gun, about 30 yards with a crappy daisy hollow point pellet, took two shots (both head shots) but took it down... about a 10lb rat...

I prefer pistols personally. I own 2 Glocks (23 and a 19), a Kahr PM9, CZ 75, and a Springfield Armory XD 45. Also got an old Marlin 30-30 that i got from my Grandpa when he passed, 2 Ruger 10/22's, a Remington 700 SPS and lastly a Remington 870 :headbang:.

Cabelas: "The SKS M59/66A rifles are made in Romania."
I don't know what they're talking about, but Romanian rifles are referred to as the model 56. The M59/66A is the Yugo with gernade launcher
http://www.yooperj.com/SKS-11.htm.

$280 for a Yugo seems like a Canadian price, and I would guess a little high for American customers.
For a Romanian, well, I never seen one and would definitely pay that for one. Not sure if they're as rare down there or not.

Personally, I stuck with a yugo m59(no gernade launcher) due to good looks.
Another shipment of m59/66(with the gernade launchers) are expected after christmas, and I may 'lay away' one for a graduation present to myself for finishing my trade school.

yeah, the gas block gives it away. it's slanted on russian, chinese and romanian sks's. on a yugo, it goes straight up.

Well I shot my Taurus last night. I absolutely love the feel and the weight of it;however, I am not a fan of the trigger pull. It is far too long before it actually fires. I see a trigger job is in the near future for it. Oh yeah and I am more accurate with it as well over my 9mm. I will post a pic of the target a little later.

EDIT:

Also sighting in my 30.06 this afternoon as well. I get to destroy his old archery deer bc we got him a new one for Christmas. Good times are going to be had.

I happened to be up there last night, they were exactly as pictured. The one on the rack looked brand new across the counter.

For some reason it was a madhouse in there :icon_confused: I didn't want to wait half an hour to physically hold one and/or hours to buy one, I will always be back.

I think the grenade stuff is kinda neat... :D

I have found them cheaper and I have found them pricier on the net... + freight and transfer. It seems prices vary wildly. If they are actually as nice as they look from 7' away I don't know if they would be that bad for the $$.

What is your trigger pull like on yours? Mine is too long before it engages. I found a gun smith that will fix it for me though.

mosin-nagants for sale at buds gun shop for $109 cash price.

On the 24/7 its a little long you have to get used to it, over all its not great but i like it enough. Its a nice and fun little pistol that wont break the bank, compared to the mosin the trigger is very reasonable lol what caliber you have it in???

40 cal

In about 2 wks I am going to have the pull distance reduced by a gun smith.
