I just put a remanufactured in my Ranger and I can't get it to start. When it is about to start, it seems like it almost locks. Any ideas on what to check?

It was timed by the rebuilder.

well, it may still not be right, need more info, year/engine size/ect.

Its a 2000 with a 4.0. If the camshaft sensor is out of adjustment, would it still start?

If its a Lima 2.3 or 2.5, did you do the rangerian timing dance? even an experienced tech can easily time a Lima wrong easily.

I would guess spark plugs are in the wrong order, nothing to time on a 4.0

cam sensor should just be for injection not timing and would probably still start

try starting fluid for sh1ts n giggles?

Check the spark plug order. If its turning over without a hint of trying to fire, spray some ether down the throttle body. If it tries to fire then, check your fuel system.

i think he got a bum motor.... he says when its about to start. it almost locks, maybe his starter is taking a poo?

ever try to start an engine with the distributor out of time or the spark plugs off one? if the plugs fire at the wrong time it will try to push the engine backwards, thus nearly locking it up at 150rpm cranking speed.
