Replacement thermostat housing help

I got a new replacement thermostat housing at Advanced Auto for my 4.0 and after getting it bolted up found that the outlet pipe is 3/16" smaller than the upper radiator hose that it's supposed to attach to. It doesn't fit either the stock hose or the new replacement hose. So I went to Autozone and they have the same part and that one was too small in diameter as well. The parts guy pulled a hose off the shelf and could see that they would not fit together. Has anyone else had this same problem when replacing the thermostat housing?

I'm trying to avoid the dealer. They quoted me $210 just for the housing.
