put 2500 miles on my truck since the swap, went wheeling, then had the passenger side bearing and seal go out. replaced the bearing/seal, only to have it go out again after 10 miles. bought a new axle shaft, bearing/seal thinking i bent the stock one, drove it 10-15 miles to find out it had gear oil pouring out the passenger side, AGAIN. visibly, there is nothing wrong with the bearing race, seal, housing, or backing plate. to me, it seems the axleshaft trys to push out of the housing about a 1/4inch or so it seems the bearing rides on the edge of the cage, then wastes the bearing, and the seal has no contact with the race or housing. im not sure what to do, or why it keeps pushing out. any help would be appreciated as i have to use my truck for work this coming week.

this would be where a full floating axle comess in ftw.

that sucks though...and iim guessing the obvious like enough grease and the axle is all the way in are stupid questions to ask ya lol.

sick truck though. diggin the widde ass tires.

The axle shaft retaining plates are screwed. I went with aftermarket ones that i can remove without having to cut the bearing off. These are the exact ones I bought and ever since i went with them, I have not had and issue.

lol. i figured as much. tried driving down to the bay area after putting a new bearing and seal in it, didnt work out so well. got about 30mins from my house when the retainer decided to let loose, and my passenger tire/drum/axleshaft passed up my truck at 50mph, i pulled over, looked at it and laughed. made some a call to my buddy, loaded the truck up on his 5th wheel flatbed trailer and took it home. ended up taking the wifes exploder to work. getting tired of this semi-float pos axle, but im gonna have to make it work til i get tons built and new wheels/tires.

my semi-float does just fine. When your retaining plates look like Wavy Lays potato chips, you can't expect much...

having a buddy pickup the 10.25 tomorrow!!!! only 100 bucks! gonna order some 5.13s, master install kit, weld it up, get some wheels, and throw it under the ranger soon. Just need to find a cheap d60 now:icon_confused:

Are you going to sell your 9" once your done, or are you going to try to do a full floater and go back to it?
