Hey guys thanks for having me - I just picked up a 1997 Ranger Supercab 2WD and it's gonna be a gift for my son when he starts college in the fall. So far its got a 3" lift up front via Superlift Coils, camber plates and Bilstein 5100's. I'm now moving to the wheel/tire part and I haven't been able to dig up any significant collection of pics for the 2wd I-Beam trucks (even after searching using multiple key words). So please if you have a 2wd 93-97 Ranger can you PLEASE post pics with wheel size, offset/backspace, and tire size along with any trimming you had to do.

The LOOK I'm after is wheels that sit pretty flush with the fenders but at what point will I have to worry about tires rubbing on the radius arm? There are a few trucks that have the look I'm after such as RangerMtnHigh but his truck is an A-Arm/Torsion and 4wd (He runs 16x8 4.5BS), so I'm not sure how that translates to my truck. Just for reference here's his truck. Thanks guys!!!

as for height, measure the distance between your wheels now, and the wheel wells, and figure out what you want... multiply that difference, by 2 (so if your current wheels are 6" away from the fenders, and you want them 4" away, difference is 2, multiplied by 2, is 4, add that to your current size... so if you have 31's then you want 35's for instance...

are you planning on having your son use this truck for offroading, or just a street demon?

as for clearances, i can't really help you too much... though there are some mathematical ways to work it out to keep everything on the inside the same distance from everything else...

also, the 16x8 is rim size, which won't really help you too much on that aspect. though the backspace will... 4.5 bs is a lot for this generation, with the tires i've got, the absolute most i could do was 3.5 (unless i'm thinking of this wrong)

Hey Weezl - Thanks for the reply - I'm sorry I think I may have worded it wrong. I'm not concerned with the gap between the top of the tire and the wheel well, I'm concerned with the wheels sitting flush with the fenders from a backspace perspective. I trying to avoid having the wheels stick OUT too far (like say a 15x10 with a really negetive offset would) -

So you have a 16x8 in the 2wd I-Beam truck? Can I see some pics?

So actually I'm trying to avoid a look like this

And shooting more for a look like this - (But again on an I-Beam 2WD)

ok, so basically what you should do, is figure out what tire you want to run on it first, then work out the numbers as to the backspacing... if you give me your current rim and tire size (widths mainly) and your current backspacing, with a measurement in the same units (inches, cm what ever) of how much farther out you want them to stick... then find the tires you want to run and the rim that best suits that tire, give me those measurements, and i'll tell you what backspace you need to have it sit exactly where you want it... this is the best way to make it fit exactly like you want... though the trial and error through pictures can work too...

unfortunately for you, my truck's tires stick out atleast an inch, and i've got torsion bars, so my truck is no help

let me know if you want me to run the numbers for you, otherwise, good luck in your search and with the help on the site

welcome also!

Wow Weezl that would be awesome! I will pull the wheel off (14" Deer hoove) Friday morning and post as soon as I have some specs.

I am pretty set on running a 245/75/16 on a 16x8
2nd choice would be a 31x10.5x15 on a 15x7 or 15x8

Haha, my truck got it picture posted.......anyways for what you want I would get 15x8 with 4in of backspace, maybe 3.75in of BS if you want it out slightly more. And for instance my truck has 15x10 with 3in of BS ( not my choice, got them for a good deal with the tires )
