the slo-vo build thread...

Nah not really worth it, for the shit we do sas is where it's at

and speaking of the explorer. it has me thinking very strongly about selling or parting out the ranger and building the explorer.

come october there will be 4 of us in the family and the ranger just doesnt deal with that well.

so i may be putting out a feeler here soon on the ranger and seeing what it will bring.

if i do the explorer im going to chop it no if ands or buts, i love the room of the explorer but hate having no bed.

so here is what it would look like.

like i said, its all still up in the air but i would like to have room for the family and be able to wheel. the d60 is waiting to go into something so i need to start making my mind up soon.

i really like the ex's chopeed like that. and like you said it may make more sense to build the ex.. but didnt you remove all the sheetmetal from the ranger cause you caved it in? whatd happen to the ex? or would you exo it. thatd be pretty cool.. chopped/exo'd/and sas'd explorer with 1 tons none the less.

ok im convinced build the ex

it would need an exo, thats the only think i didnt like about wheeling the ex. it feels alot more top heavy but the chop woul take a little of that out.

:dunno: if i do go ahead and sas the ranger blah blah blah im still going to have to sell it in a year or 2...so im thinking its time even though i really dont want to.

edit: slo-vo was quicker than me posting... dang. but still. i agree, build the ex. keep the ranger lol

how tall would the ex be? i know on the ranger you wanted 38s (or around there) that wouldnt be so bad on an ex if you did it lowrider style and tubbed out not to mention that it would be on fullwidths theres some stability there.

ill be keeping it low and wide, just as tall as it has to be

it'd be fine.. just short n fat!

unfortunatly you cant trim much rear fender on the ex b4 you get into the doors... but i know theres a guy on here who sas'd his ex on 38s and im pretty sure he said it was fairly stable. he was a guinea pig for a kit from james diff i think? and i think he only went to a dana 44

ill cut the doors, that stuff doesnt bug me much. if i do it its going to be less about looking good and more about it being the way i want and working right

That guy is selling his, which is already set up nicely for 3 grand.

There is a guy on pirate selling one on 37's for 3 something.

I will have to agree though. Go with the ploder. I love Rangers, but lack of room doesn't tickle my fancy.

could also go the truggy route.

i love the ranger platform, but it doesnt work for a family rig.
