daily doubler build

I have a 1350 & 1354 & both are manual, which is the better to use for the main & the doubler? And is there still people making the adapter plate & stub shaft?

The 1350 Case will be your front case, and the 1354 case will be the rear box.

D&D machine is the only game in town (That I know of) that makes the adapter and stub shaft. Best bet is to call him and leave a message if he doesn't answer (He picked up right away when I ordered mine last year).

I would respond, but Kage answered everything pretty well. haha.

I guess I could add a little update. When I put my trans in after the engine swap, 5th gear wouldn't hold. I couldn't even hold it in gear with my arm. It would push it out everytime.

So I just drove around in 4th. No big deal. Still got 20+ MPG.

This weekend I tore the truck down, and Explorin94 came over. We tore the trans apart and found that there was a single ball bearing missing. Must've forgot about it during the gear swap (3.0 m5od gears into 4.0 case). He brought a spare m5od with him, so we stole the ball bearing from that one, put everything together, and it runs like a champ. Holds 5th. Reverse feels solid. All's well.

Still preppin for the trip this weekend. Runnin down to wheel Turkey Bay with all the KY hooligans. :D

Should have some decent pics after this coming weekend - I know I've been slackin.

That's with 35's and 4.56's. I think my speedo is pretty accurate.

The last time I filled up before tearing it down this weekend I got 21.2mpg. I've been averaging 20.5 or so. My gas gauge doesn't work, so I pay attention. :D

In 4th, I was running ~2700rpm at 60mph. So I would just cruise everywhere at like 55-58mph.

In 5th, I'm right around 2100rpm at 60mph, and 2400rpm at 70mph. The 4.0 makes peak torque at 2400, so I'm thinkin my gas mileage will be pretty good on trips when I'm runnin 70mph for hours at a time. We'll see this weekend.

I found a scale while I was driving down the road today, so I swung over and drove up on it.

4280lbs.

I was at 4200 with TTB and 33's. Not too bad.

That's stripped down street trim though. No toolbox or spare.

Headed to the shop now to get everything ready for this weekend. Headed for Turkey Bay in the morning!

I'd be courious. One debate that's going on in my head is wether or not to regear when I lock the rear. The 4:10's seem a bit steep to me (my tires only measure 35", but they're wide, heavy fuggers).

Something tells me that I might benefit more from a motor swap/rebuild before I worry about the gears too much. Then again, 14.5 mpg doesn't seem too bad for what my junk is :dunno:

Have fun this weekend!

get that shit going, we've got beer to drink tonight!

I survived Turkey Bay. It was allsome. Check the show off forum for a TON of pics. I'll just highlight my truck here.

Pulled an all nighter Thursday night goin into Friday. Installed new 760's in the axles, repacked wheel bearings, new spindle bearings, lubed brakes, checked fluids, cleaned interior, etc.

This was ~2a Friday morn.

Got everything loaded up and hit the road around 11:30a Friday

Rocked the tube doors for the entire trip. I would've been scorching with the full doors and no AC. Quick pic on the road.

Made it to camp ~7:30p. Kayaked/canoed, swam, ate, drank, slept. Hit the trails on Sat and Sun.

I loved all the notches and washouts! As you can see, I picked up a nice dent on my passenger bedside as well. I'll pop it out as best I can when I get around to it.

I left TB around 2p on Sunday, and made it home by 10p. Construction sucks ass. Stopped for dinner too.

Back at home, safe and sound. The trip is official, the tailgate has been tagged. :D

And back at work Monday morn at 8a.

The truck performed very well both on and off road. 750miles round trip. Set the cruise at 70mph and just rolled out. Even with the tube doors on and the bed loaded down I averaged 20mpg. The two times I filled up on the way down I got 19.91 and 20.12. I didn't pay attention on the way home haha.

U.A. 2012? I'm seriously considering submitting an application.

Thanks to all the TB 'locals' for taking me under their wing and showing me around. :icon_thumby:

Bray, glad you liked it down in our neck of the woods, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you or join the trip, I just had too much going on to get away. Maybe next time. BTW, your truck looks like it belongs at Turkey Bay :icon_thumby: :icon_hint:
