disciplerocks's B2 build thread

yea but like svt said double it up and its 1/4" and either way its gotta be more durable then wood. theres no old trucks or anything abandoned on any of your guys trails? theres usually a few around here that have been sitting for years grab one for the frame for the trailer.

plus your cleaning up the trails which is nice. i usually go out and grab one whenever im tight on cash and scrap it

I know what you are saying, but I can afford to do it now, and I trust it more than trying to weld that thick with my welder and hope it holds.

So do it twice and spend extra money instead of waiting a week or 2? Seriously?:icon_confused:

Bolt it if you can't weld it, or just don't do it because it isn't safe for you or people around you.

Nope, I used 1/8" angle on my shock hoop. Snapped it in half. Don't trust it.

Sorry, not to beat up on you, but how you applied the angle I am not suprised it broke. There was no engineering involved. It's kinda like someone needing a couple nails, can't find em, so you grab a wood screw and pound it in with a hammer....it works, just not like it should.

What I am getting at is everything has it purpose, and 1/8" angle would have worked great if you added a gusset.

You have good ideas and I think you have a sweet B2, and I understand wanting things done right away, but spend more time, not money and you would be way better off.

And think what wood would do in the same situation...

You can my use my welder if you want, just trying to keep from getting someone killed

Alright alright shitheads :thefinger::thefinger:

JK. I am going with some 2" square tube. Its actually going to be a bit cheaper all together by my calculations. I'll explain later. My internet is being retarded right now.

I just got to thinking, now my head hurts, but they use to use the mighty Oak as wheel spokes in car rims back in the late 1800, and early 1900. of course cars back then couldn't do 75 down the highway, and they didn't have highways back then.

but I'm glad to read that your going to use metal.

Robert

Yeah I guess I should have actually calculated it up before posting it and getting all the flack. Oh well thanks everyone for the concern.

We're just looking out for you and yours, brother :icon_thumby:
SVT

If I went with wood, I would have to get at least 30' which would be around $30. Then having to get metal brackets for every corner at $2-5 a piece.

K so 24' of 2" stock is $68. I am only going to use one piece and just use it for main part of frame and tongue. I am going to use some scrap and leftover tube for the braces in between the frame rails.

Just back from pulling a rear axle and running some errands. A little housework then hopefully a little work on the trailer.

If I had a kid and a tree worthy of it, there would be a treehouse build thread.

Been awhile since I've posted. Not much happening with the B2. Been working on this:
