The Lone Ranger – Kage’s ’94 X-Cab Leaf SAS and Bed Bob

Rear Frame Trim And Bed Spacers

Since 14.5” was cut out of the front of the bed, I needed to cut out a chunk of the rear frame to get it tucked back under the bed again.

If you recall, the first time I put the bed on the back of the truck, it had the frame hanging out like this:

So it started out looking like this:

I removed 11.5” From the rear (that’s as much as I could cut off and still get the BII tank behind the axle):

Once that was done, I made up some spacers to make the bed sit level again. The rearmost spacers are 1.375” tall, The next set is ¼” tall, the third set is 2” tall, and the last set (closest to the cab) is ¾” tall. You can somewhat see them in this photo:

Now when we put the bed on there, it looks like this:

And yeah, if you’re paying attention, the paint on the bed is quite a bit lighter than the cab, so a respray is going to happen this weekend.

lookin good
looks good, whats the plan for bumpers?

Thanks! I don't know what I"m going to do do for the bumpers yet I do know that:
- They'll wrap around a bit to make tying the exo into them easier
- They'll have to stick out enough to be able to catch the tube on them
- The Rear will hold air
- The front will be as minimal as I can make it.

I need to get it flexed out so I can trim what needs to be trimmed which will help me figure out the bumpers better.

Y not respray the cab, I realize there would be alot of prep and what not and it's gonna get scratched anyhow, but it would be nice to start with fresh canvas if you know what i mean. and if your runnin the same trail's as the white cherokee it appear's from the pic's he has managed to keep it scratch free for the most part.

might want to fix your rear shackle angles before you get too much more back together. Looks like you burnt the mounts in, that sucks.

angles are a little too vertical, but theyre not horrible

since they are burned in place i would keep moving forward's and see where it's at when your closer to trail weight. on the other hand if you loose much more fender well your seriously going to have to worry bout the tire getting into the fenderwell or severly limiting your suspension travel

I don't think they look that bad, with a bit more weight (no bumpers, tools, spares etc) they'll have some more angle and it'll ride well.

Only thing I'd have done is get your body guy to spread the wheel wells while he was working his magic. Your gonna rub 37's at bump, they don't fit no matter where you put the axle in the wheel well.

cut that shit :thefinger:
You know it! I aint skeeerrd of a a little cuttn :icon_twisted::thefinger:

I don't really have the time to prep the cab (I've got 19 days before Jeep Jam). So it'll have to hang out as it is. I can't do body work or paint for poo, and my paint guy said he won't spray the cab. Since I'm paying him in beer, its hard to argue with him :icon_rofl:

Lets just say the camera is hiding 'alot' when it comes to paint scratches and such. Out here, everything winds up playing with the trees and brush as time moves on. So I'll have quite a few pinstripes after the first trip out.

I'm thinking the shackel angle is pretty much golden...

By the time I get the exo, bumper, and more armor on it, life should be good. With my limited amount of cursing around that I've done, I can say it rides awesome as it sits. If it winds up sucking, I'll just cut it off and move it where it needs to go.

I don't have enough beer to pay the body guy to flare those fenders :icon_twisted: Plus it looks like the 37's should tuck up pretty nice:

In that pic, the rear springs are nearly flat so I don't think I'll have to trim the rear much (if at all). The front will need cut though if I want to turn the wheels while its stuffed. I'm hoping to borrow a bobcat/forklift this week so that I can get it flexed all the way and finish burning in things.

Thanks for the comments guys!

lookin pretty darn good! Although i am going to have to agree with Andrew. When i had the axle in stock location i rubbed 35's at full stuff. I could imagine 37's will too. Oh well though, if it does, then you can just hack it

The nitto's must run a lil on the short side, which is a good thing here.... My Toyo's barely rubbed, but my MTR K's started peeling the box sides away. Took the grinder to them on the side of the trail to avoid loosing lugs.
