daily doubler build

So what did you ever do with the Ruff Stuff motor mounts? I have been looking into getting a set.

Still got em. Welded up and primed. PM me if you want em.

Figured out my flywheel/clutch scenerio. Went straight to Ford. He pulled up an 8 bolt flywheel for a 97. Said it showed an 8 bolt pattern for 97-99. The 98-99 pressure plates/clutches are different though.

So I'm thinking a 98-99 flywheel and clutch combo would work if I couldn't find a parts store that carried an 8 bolt 97 flywheel (ford couldn't get it, discontinued).

Went to Napa and started from scratch. Just said I was looking for a flywheel for a 97 4.0 explorer. The one he came up with was an 8 bolt flywheel. Win. I went ahead and ordered it. Pick it up Weds.

Progress will ensue on Friday :icon_thumby:

When you get the 4.0L in there you'll wonder how you ever wheeled with the 3.0L..... I'm hoping for the same experience with my engine swap, haha.

Everything is relative, brother. Through this entire experience of building a truck, I'm searching to find the happy medium. A good, solid, capable truck and doesn't cost a fortune to build, maintain, or wheel.

Good luck, Bro....:icon_twisted:

if you wanna save $ stop upgrading. your already sas, doubler, and 4.0 swap. on 35s more then good enough. practice the driving and you'll still make it anywhere you want to then will be able to brag that you got there with an underbuilt rig (in comparasion to these 500 horse 42" tires buggys)

its a terrible visious cycle.
lift. bigger tires, gears, stonger axles,
well now you have all that and wanna do more so you get bigger tires and need more power then you break axles so you upgrade axles. hey! now i can get bigger tires again! ?

then it all starts over... it sucks but its nice haha

I'm not "already" sas, doubled, and a 4.0. Those were all premeditated mods that were necessary to attain the final goal of a solid, reliable, capable rig. And the 4.0 is still in process haha.

I'm a decent driver, and follow a lot of big tire guys (remember I live in the midwest) on my 35's. I still think 37's will be my "end all tire". Still need bumpers, install winch, skid plates, etc. Eccentially trying to "responsibly" build a 1/2 ton rig to the max. Any bigger than 37's and you're pushing it.

Wheeling is a huge game. Its fun, as long as you feel like you're winning. :D

well i meant your already sas'd and have the doubler. you do have the 4.0 its just not drivable yet. and bumpers sliders winches etc dont really cost all that much as i see it.

what im meaning to say is i think you are already at your goal of the reliable cabile rig at this point you just have to finish it

egggzactly. It only took like 6 years to get it here haha.

Give it another 6 years and you'll probably see why I feel like I'm losing.

I think you should quit whilst you're still relatively 'ahead". :icon_twisted:

I went from leading Bray and watching him take bypasses or whatever, to following his truck. Mine's not nearly as nimble as his has become...

You built a full size Chevy. You already lost. :thefinger:

Dang Bray.....I don't slam doors that hard.
Let me know when you have it done or if you need help with it. We could make a run to the cliffs and try it out. My ranger will need a trailer of course. And I'll run the 37's.
