Probably a dumb question but if it has a knock sensor where is it i found an unplugged wire hanging down by my oil pan or somewhere near there

'86-87 had a knock sensor. It was a 2 wire connector and located just above the oil pan. There was also a low oil indicator switch located in the oil pan on some models on the same side. It is only a single wire.

In the block next to the starter be careful if you mess with it they are brittle and expensive unless you can get one at the bone yard.

Still havent checked what the wire is. Motor is probably going to come out for a carberated 302, or chevy 350

It's a confirmed fact that no 87-88 Ranger ever made it to 500k on original parts-LOL!

Dose a 1988 ford ranger 2.9L have a knocker sensor and if it dose where at?

Not a knock sensor...

My 89 2.9 had a knock sensor, me. It had no EGR so it would ping when it was hot and dry. I learn to back out of the accelerator pedal when it pinged.

If it had a knock sensor and no EGR it was an 86/87 block with a 88+ upper intake.
