Oil Catch Can Install

Below are pics of my newly installed oil catch can. Purchased from ebay for about $36. You'll need to fabricate a custom mounting bracket and the location shown is pretty much the only choice under the hood. I also added an extra drain plug on the opposite side (hidden) which has easier access than the one shown.

Just an update:

I used 5/8" heater hose but found that collapses under the vacuum created. It did not completely block air flow but it was enough that I changed out the hoses. Right now I'm using 5/8" clear PVC reinforced that is easily found in Lowes or Home Depot. Is stiff enough to prevent collapse but pliable enough to work with.

Howdy rear... I'm sorry but I don't know what the need for this is. Can you explain what it is accomplishing.

On inspection of my PCV connection and intake there was substantial oil from the PCV. This happend over the time the truck was purchased but still I don't want oil in my intake. Catch can is an attempt to prevent this.

So this is an attempt to stop oil coming out of the PCV from getting to the intake????? :dunno:

New set of rings will do a better job and make the motor run better and longer........ Let us know if it worked, I am skeptical, as the oil come through the PCV valve has been atomized, and the volume of atomized oil is why your seeing it. This is cause by blow-by. In the old cars we had little filters that just got oil soaked............ :annoyed:

So how would there be blow-by with compression as follows:
1. 190
2. 190
3. 185
4. 185
5. 192
6. 185

And low mileage as listed.

Further Update:

Seems with the heat the braided hose also collapses, but not fully closed however. In any case I purchased a Stanley door spring size 6 and stretched it out to the about 3 feet of hose length and pushed it down the inside of the hose. No collapse now.

There is a developing oil trace in the hose from the PCV to the catch can and so far no oil trace from the catch can to the intake. This is a very small amount however which is just mist/vapor oil. Time will tell if this thing works and is worth it.
