I told a buddy, that has a Ranger, that the clutch on my newly acquired B4000 was in need of replacement, because it engages just after the pedal leaves the floor. He told me to not get excited, that, that was normal.

To me the clutch does not seam right. Can you guys comment on that, is it normal to have the clutch start to engage that way?

Thanks

Thats not the clutch its the master cylinder or the slave cylinder look at the
rod that comes off the clutch pedal under the dash.
Where the rod goes through the firewall and look for Brake fluid leaks look in the clutch housing for the same. You don't have to see fluid but your right the pedal is not working properly.

Well, I've been fighting a clutch problem for several months. I've changed my Clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder and throw out bearing. I've also changed out my Clutch Master cylinder twice and have taken it out 5 times to bleed the system because its been so hard to change gears. Well i think i found my problem. see pic's

Sooooo what exactly am I looking at??? Im in the same situation you are, just replaced master/slave cyls and things are are they were before.... also inspected pressure plate and throwout bearing and are fine. even sent the flywheel to the machine shop....

youre looking at the clutch pedal bracket. apparently the holes that the clutch pedal pivots on wear out over time and cause problems.

Yesterday I bled the clutch. The engagement point is now about half way in the pedal travel. Thanks for the answers.

well now that everything works great and shifts smoothly the slave cylinder (which is new) is leaking. So now its back to the shop!!
