I was reading through the 97 Ford Ranger Manual and the 96 Ford Ranger Manual and I noticed that from the year 96 model to the 97 model, Ford changed the location of the CHECK ENGINE idiot light. Everything else seems to have stayed the same. Just out of curiosity, can any one confirm this. I checked the Owners Guide on line directly from Ford.

I have no idea. I do know that the '98-'03 Ranger and the '98-'01 Explorer are a plug and play swap without any re-wiring. The idiot lights are in different locations, but they still work.

For those who say it wont, I installed an '01 Explorer gauge cluster in my '97 Ranger without problems.
