What happens to many of these motors is the gears. They are plastic, and with age deteriorate and fall apart. I have found some where the gears are crumbled into little pieces. When this happens, the gears jam and the motor won't turn, or the motor runs and doesn't do anything.. The motors themselves are fine. I think the parts are still available at Ford dealerships to repair the gears. If you get one from the jy, open it up and make sure the gears are good. The last time I did this repair, I went thru 4 jy units before I found one that was good.
The gears are also available from some auto parts, Advance being one, Pep Boys another. They are called "Window Regulator Gear Plugs," or window gear repair kit. Motormite (#74410) is one mfgr.
It is expensive if you have it done, and with new parts. You can do it yourself, it's not that hard. The hard part is getting the motor out. It is held to the door with 3 8mm screws. Two are accessable, the third is not. No hole was drilled for this screw from the factory. Look for the location of the third screw, it is the top one of the three if I remember correctly, and in the door panel you will see a dimple where the third screw should be. You take a 1/2 inch drill and drill a hole. You will then see the third screw. By working the window by hand you can then remove the motor. Take the gear assembly apart, repair, and replace in reverse. It is not hard, and it does not have to be timed. The motors start and stop with current limiters. Good luck whichever way you go. shady
