I decided to make a build thread, mostly to keep track of what I've done to my truck, and what better place to do it than here.

Here is the very first day I got it. This is my first vehicle, I bought it for $3,000 with 125,000 miles, one owner. It was a steal!

I thought I was cool so I put some cheap Walmart lights on the bumper

Here's me pulling a very large trailer :D Ya right lol

Next order of business was new wheels. My windows are not tinted in this picture. That's later :icon_thumby:
IMAG0026.jpg

I traded my old useless wheels for a roll bar straight up. Even better it was specifically made for a Ranger. (I forgot to mention my awesome steering wheel cover. That's the only picture I have of it)

Added 2 more lights in the middle. I took the lights off the bumper shortly after.

Then I painted the grille and bumper black. Also somewhere in the mix i painted the top of the bed with bed liner. I don't have a direct picture of it but if you look closely you can see it in some pics.

Then I got a lift kit! AAL in the rear and torsion keys in the front. 3" all around.

New 31" Hankook Dynapro ATM tires

I got sick of looking at a nice black grille and bumper with ugly grey fender flares. So i took them off.

Looks much better if you ask me, well minus the holes. Up next...2007 mirrors!

The first heavy snow fall inspired me to do something different than a little snow fort or a wimpy snowman, so I made my self "The Colorado Camper" As easy as it sounds, it's very time consuming and your up-side-down most of the time carving out snow onto your face.

After debating on what to do with birthday money, I went and got my windows tinted. I've been dying to do this for awhile and wanted to cross it off my list.
Before (fish bowl)

After (Awesome)

I figured since I had 31" tires, it would be a good idea to have a full size spare, and what better place to put it than on the roll bar.

It kinda bothers me that the right side isn't the same as the left, but maybe if I'm really bored someday I'll fix it. Oh, and the tire isn't matching but it has almost 100% tread and it was only $40 :icon_thumby:

There goes my rear view mirror

And that's how she sits right now.

Lookin good. Any thought on painting the flares blue? Also, what gears do you have, and how well do you turn those 31's?

Thanks! But I already took them off :dunno: I think its 3.73. I tried looking for the gear ratio on the axle and in the book and door jambs but I didn't find anything. I wasn't that curious to clean a bunch of dirt off something I can just look up. And I honestly couldn't tell that much of a difference between stock and the 31's.

im pretty sure most 4x4 3.0's came with 3.73's. i have a 3.0 with 3.73s and im pushin 33's just fine. thats a good lookin truck. i painted my flares black and they looked good but it looks better with none

That's nice to know! Now i don't have to waste $300 on gears, too bad I just got new tires. Oh well. And how does your truck flex so good? Thanks, I think it looks good without them too.

Dang, I thought it would be terrible with 33's. I have the 2.3l, which would be a little worse than the 3.0, but knowing that he can turn 33's just fine, and you can't tell any difference between 31's and stock, I think my 2.3 would do fine with 31's then.

hey old ranger 4L 4x4 had 3.55 gears in it. that was a upset

I'm sure you would be fine.

Ya that kinda sucks

Its been awhile but I have a couple updates. First I got a 10'' sub. Sorry for the crappy pics but I'm pretty sure you guys know what a subwoofer looks like.

I also painted my rocker panels. First I printed off the Ranger emblem. I made each of the letters 5 inches wide. The length adjusted automatically on the computer.
310.jpg

Then cut them out and lined them up to see what I liked best
317.jpg

Once I found out where I wanted them, I spaced the letters out about 6 inches apart and put them about 2.5 inches from the top of the rocker.
325.jpg

326.jpg

Then I traced out the letters in sharpie (bad idea lol)
318.jpg

And I put tape inside of the sharpie letters I made.

Sanded it up and painted it

Remember when I said using sharpie was a bad idea? Here's why.

It looks like crap up close. But I learned for the next time I do something like this. Do any of you know how to get sharpie out of paint without messing the paint up?

--------------------------------------

Edit:
I put rubbing alcohol on the sharpie and it looks much better

After: (Again, sorry for the crappy picture. All I have is my phone)
