Hey guys, i have had a 2002 ford ranger xlt 2wd for 2 yrs with a total of 6 inches of lift and im tired of no 4wd, i do not have the option of selling and buying a 4wd and i got a complete 1993 wrangler axle with brakes, steering, everything. i just need some advice, i wnt to go leaf springs, i have rack and pinion steering and there is a big crossmember in the front that im not sure if id have to remove to do the swap, i know there are alot of 2wd sas forums but none for my truck, and im on a very very small budget, any advice i can get would be very appreciated, thanks

Post some pictures of what you have. I'll try to help.

I do know you will need a steering box. Some use a Toyota box from a 86-94? You will also need to do some trimming to the crossmember unless you have enough lift to clear it. Research and search button is your best friend. Good luck.

you have to cut it down to the frame rails. all that supporting the center section is removed. The one under the motor can stay. leaf is the easier to setup IMHO, but its still a big task. Prepare for the truck to be off the road for about a week, if you've never done this before.

Thanks guys i appreciate all the feedback, im gonna post some pics tomorrow of what im looking at, and i am pretty sure im gonna have to cut the coil buckets and weld steel plate to make my frame flat, ill get back to you with some pics tomorrow asap, Thanks again

Your truck looks nice. Not to sure of the light bar in the bed though. You need to start a build thread and keep us all updated as you go. There aren't to many 2wd SAS builds on the newer IFS rangers.

Anyways, all that will need cut out for the swap. Get out the plasma cutter. Lol
