Just found a wire that was sitting up against my oil pan, all frayed. I snipped the end and put a wire nut on it. Does anybody know what it goes to? It looks to be orange with a yellow stripe I think.

Also, there is a little hose coming out of the driver side of my oil pan. What is this for?

And last, there is this hose. It comes from the top left and you can see it head towards the master cylinder and then it just ends. Is it supposed to plug into something?

Wire and mystery port are the oil level sensor.

The "hose" looks like a vac line. MAP sensor maybe? Where does the other end go?

Either way, I'd just hook it to the manifold somewhere. Have an empty vac port anywhere?

Oh, I see. So that wire should be inside that hose-looking part on the oil pan?

That explains my oil light coming on & off without rhyme or reason, I suppose...

Is that different from the Oil Pressure?

Yes, that is the low oil level switch. My 2.3 has the same thing. Unrelated to the oil pressure sending unit or switch.

Hrmm...Does it look like I can hook that wire back up to that switch? Or do I maybe need a new switch? :/

I would guess you need a new switch.

I don't see it on Autozone, RockAuto, or Advance's website. Dealer part only?

i bought one at autozone awhile back.. idk if they still have it or not..

and if nothing else, cap that vacuum hose off so its not a leak. but there should be another side of it somewhere right? lol

EDIT: NO I DIDN'T BUY THAT ONE.. IT WAS THE ONE FOR THE GAUGE.. NOT THE LIGHT. i got one of those at a JY tho..

I think there's a broken piece of plastic or something in the end already

yeah, edited my post. the oil level sensor- bought it at a JY one time.. not the Zone.
technically you don't need that one. is it the check oil light that comes on?

just take the bulb out and check your oil regularly like you should anyways lol

whoa whoa whoa...$50+ anywhere I look!

Part Number: F2AZ6C624B

Junkyard it is! :P

or pull bulb... that's still be my option. the oil pressure switch i wouldn't bypass or anything.. but the oil level, who cares? lol

Okay, I think I know where that hose goes now, but I'm not really sure what it does.

On the other side of the engine, while I was swapping out the heater resistor, I found this:

As you can see, the vacuum hose seems to go where the pigtail harness for the heater resistor originates, but I haven't traced it any further. Does anybody know the function of this hose? What are my replacement options? Do I need to pull the entire thing out and replace the whole hose?

Thanks.

Well it kinda looks like its for supplying some vac operated part of the HVAC system. Only problem with that is that I can't think of any of those on an 89.

Really the only thing I can think of that even uses vacuum on the 2.9 is the EGR system, and you shouldn't have one unless it's a California emissions truck.

that mystery hose is for your HVAC stuff, which in the pictures doesnt appear to be there at all.

your truck should have a "T" fitting/check valve thing that connects to manifold vac, the line coming out of the blower resistor harness, and a vacuum reservoir canister. that line youre inquiring about is the one for manifold vac. its supposed to loop up and to the passenger side, through that little black loom thing, and then towards the heater box area. ill get some pics tomorrow of the setup on my 89/2.9 if i remember.
