well i finished the swap and i must say it has its points where you dont think its worth it but keep going. i have been driving it now for a month and it is great. increased power and torque. it has a lot more get up and go to it. if there is any questions just ask cause i can answer them. i will say just about anybody can do it if you have little knowledge about motors so ask away ill answer as soon as possible

I've been driving mine for 2 years, the 4.0 is awesome.

Were you able to make it work with the stock gauges? If I do it I want it to be like it was there stock. Properly working speedo and such. What year vehicles were they? (donor and swap truck)

yes the gauges will work as long as the dashes are the same my ranger is a 89 and the explorer was a 93 if the dashes dont match then you have to do a lot of rewiring all i had to wire was the underhood power distribution box and the 2 wires for the fuel shutoff switch and the wire for the tach nothing to it
and yes i love the new motor

I love my 4.0 in my 1 Gen truck and everything works perfect gauges and all

The 4.0 turned my 86 from a vehicle I like to one I really loved driving. It isn't more power the drivability is better with more torque.
