So I dropped the transmission to change the slave cylinder and after I put the transmission back on I realized that I took the shifter out while it was in reverse. No matter which way I put the shifter back in, its still stuck in gear.
Not really sure what else to do, or how to put it back in neutral with a screwdriver. any help apreciated

Ug, I had a thread and pics and all that fun stuff for this about 2 years ago, let me see if I can find it.

Found 'em.

The gate mouth looking thing on the left is one of the things that the shifter latches into. IIRC my trans was not in gear when I took this.

The key thing to remember is that the shifter is a lever, like a see-saw, and it pivots on those two pins in the mouth, so what ever you do with the knob, the opposite is happening inside the trans.

If you are in R, to get it back to N, which is where you want to be you need to grab the LH gate and flip it towards to back of the truck. When you hit N, the two lower pins (not the pivots, the one visible just below the RH gate in that pic) and the two gates will all be centered, like a scope reticule.
