Those are stock Ford torsion keys, from a pre-2008. Not aftermarket ones.

What kind of tuner do you recommend?

Phew. Good. Had me scared for a minute Haha.

Tuner, can't remember who in the ranger world was best, but an SCT XCAL with custom tunes would be best. Most effective for HP/MPG,

Personally, I just bought a super chips flashpaq. Allows me to change tire size to fix odo/speedo, change shift points/firmness, remove speed limiter, etc. I run the economy tune, right now since its summer I'm getting 18-20 mpg highway with 33's @55-60 mph.

I can change my shift points and firmness any time I want.

Whenever I push in the clutch pedal. LOL

I'll look into the tuners and see what I can find. Thanks.

And I'm getting 25-26 MPG (imperial) on the highway with the 33's. The reduction in RPM (-9.2%) seems to have cancelled out the increased rolling resistance of the larger tires, as the mileage didn't change from when I had the stock tires on, and I carefully calculated the mileage several times, over the same stretch of road, a 2 hour drive.

Since it's my birthday in a couple of days, I got myself a present or three.

Ordered some stereo gear to replace the factory stuff. Nothing extravagant, just basic gear that will sound OK. Not looking to enter any audio competitions or anything like that.

Sony head unit with bluetooth so I can receive calls hands free while driving. Cell use while driving in Alberta is illegal, so this will be great. Comes with wiring kit, and single DIN adaptor with a little cubby underneath to store crap in.

Some Pioneer speakers to fit exactly in the stock locations. I hate hacking holes in vehicles, so this works for me. Yeah, there are better speakers out there, and bigger ones too. Most of them are more money, and you'd have to cut something to fit them. Cutting things permanently rubs my fur the wrong way.

And some speaker wiring adaptors so I don't have to cut/solder the factory wires, just plug and play.

I already have a brand new powered subwoofer in my closet waiting to go in, and the head unit I picked up has pre-amp outputs for the sub, so it should all piece together nicely.

Will post pics when I get the install finished.

Also, I ordered two 7" FORD emblems, chrome on black, for the new grille, and to downsize the HUGE 9" emblem on the tailgate.

Got my custom emblem for my new grille installed.

And also, I sold my stock grille for the same as the chrome one cost me on eBay, so it was a good day.

Matching one for the rear.

Will be installing that soon. Had other fish to fry today.

And, since I lifted the truck and put the tires on it, my antenna was rubbing on the garage door every time I went in and out.

Not any more!!!

13" shorty antenna.

also, all my stereo gear has arrived, but I've got a lot of irons in the fire right now, so it's gonna have to wait.

Managed to find some time today to install the head unit. I had to postpone some other work to get it done. Cabinet door refinishing will have to wait! We need tunes!

Didn't take any pics along the way, but you know the drill, cross pollinate the Sony head unit wiring plug pigtail with the adaptor plugin to the OE harness, solder/shrink wrap the connections, etc.

Thank god for colour coding to industry standard. Easy peasy.

Fired right up first try. Monkeyed with a few settings, need to RTFM to figure out what the rest of the menus do.

Did not put the speakers in, still waiting for the wire adaptors. And the sub will go in sometime after that. I'll probably have to lift the passenger side seat and flooring to run the wires, we shall see.

Got the Bluetooth and handsfree mic set up. Nothing to it. Iphone 5 paired right up.

Apparently there is an App for the Sony stereo, I think it allows the head unit to access the iTunes library in your phone, as opposed to just running aux out via USB.

Also, I can stream music from the phone to the stereo over Bluetooth.

Tested the calling, works great, can access the voice prompt menus in the phone to dial anyone in your address book.

Cool.

One useless thing I noticed is the remote control for the stereo. I mean, it's within arm's reach of the driver or passenger. Of what use is a remote control??? How remote could you be from the stereo?
It's living in the original shipping box right now, I'll never use that.

Since I have only garage pics posted, I thought I'd take a few outside to prove that it actually gets driven occasionally, haha.

Got my new Pioneer TS-G6844R speakers in today.

The fronts were easy, the rears, not so much.

If I ever catch the engineer responsible for all those damn Christmas tree clips, well, in the immortal words of Achmed The Dead Terrorist: "I KILL YOU!" :annoyed:

Yeah, I know, 2 wires, not much story to tell, so I didn't take any pics except for this:

Loving the improvement in sound compared to the stockers.
Had to readjust the stereo due to the increased bass response.

So to match the new black & chrome front emblem, of course I had to do the rear.

Bye Bye Blue Oval!!!
