Your Tool Box

Somewhere along the line, I'd gotten a summer job and decided I was gonna spend my first paycheck on a good toolbox (top box only, add bottom one later when I needed to)...and before I'd decided what I wanted, I managed to snag a blueprint cabinet they were throwing away there. $50 in lumber and hardware to build a base, and I've got this:

Topher, your tools are making me drool!

^ Deere, I guess you're just another typical thrifty New Englander. Your $50 + free box looks good!

I've got a waterloo 46" roll cab at work stuffed with Snap-On shinyness.

My Tool Box......

Sorry....................I couldnt help myself.

i got a 26 inch craftsman black full tower. roller bearing for wrenches and what not.

and my Kennedy machining tool box for all fancy precision tools.

but i have really spilt my tool into two groups....things that can also double as hammers chisels and prybars go in the craftsman box. and the things that break if i put them down to hard on the work bench go in the Kennedy :icon_thumby:

I bought this when I was working at a restoration shop. Since I paint at a collision shop now I don't need one quite this big. So I keep it at home and its pretty full.

The craftsman chest sitting on top is part of a set my old boss at the restoration shop gave me, the bottom part I have at work, its empty though because I have a blue point flip top roll cart I keep everything in now.

kid at school got this , the pic does not do it justice , it is 84" wide , and with our student discount and his old Snap-On Nascar Team Monte Carlo SE box as a trade in it still cost him $8000

I'm using some cheap plastic thing and a cheap metal thing. Maybe I'll snap a picture of them together.

I upgraded. Immensely.

Craftsman 6 drawer workbench with galvanized steel top and steel pegboard back. It has a double florescent light installed in the top, and a power strip installed on the side pegboard. It was custom built by me, and involved a six month process of buying and selling tool benches and components. At the end, I am still looking at a total cost of -100 dollars. Yes, that's a negative. I purchased three craftsman two drawer tool benches and installed the drawers into mine. The cost of the tool benches was 50 dollars as they were clearanced 75% off at my store, I sold the benches for 100 dollars each on craigslist. The pegboard was a gift, also 75% off, so I have no cost into that. Chances are slim that another store would have these, and I have personally checked. My store only had them because they sold the display, and no one knew what was in the brown boxes so they sat for years. Yes, I'm using it for a bedside table. I still live with my parents.

Hey guys, I wanted to see what other people are using for tool box's, I had a craftsman box and I bought Matco 5s tool box. Boy what a difference, the matco box cost WAY more but its how i make my living. I dont think I could ever go back, the double bearing sliders on every drawer is awsome. But i what your guys prefrence is?

Craftsman products. I like mine with the roller bearings...never had any issues with thier tool boxes or tools...and I would rather take a couple of nice vacations with the money I saved by not buying a Matco or Snapon over priced tool box!!!!

Getting tools ready for school. Needed a new box to upgrade my 10 dollar craftsman yardsale find so i bought this Kobalt. Still need a new top box. I get 50 percent off most major tool companies since I am a student, but I still couldnt swing the price for a snap on.

I've got the same box and the top half, I love them!

Snagged the top half for $150 off since it was dented on top and the locks didn't work. So I bought the box and a $5 rubber mallet and straightened the locking pin with it. So I saved $145 on a fully working box and got a free hammer!

Snagged the bottom half on their 20% off sale. Such a great box I would've gladly paid full price if I had to. Just watch out for the power strips, they're mounted really poorly.

Just picked this one up
