xxx block

started to tear down my 302 to replace head gasket....noticed its a roller motor and has xxx on the lifter valley on both sides.....is this a good block to build a high output engine with?.....is it a factor roller and what years were they offered?....thanks for the help

i believe you got one of the 302HO motors...came from factory with roller cam. not real sure on the production years.

ok i did some searchin on yahoo and it said a xxx block is a 3rd gen 302 made in the 80s....looks like guy i got it from dont know what he is talkin about....he said it was a 77 302......my gain.....and thanks for your help
