Would it be worth it?

Dude, burn the truck dont let him have it. Or just tell your parents they are gonna spend money no matter what when they reimburse you for all the money/time that you have put into it. sAY THIS "I EARNED THE RIGHT TO KEEP THIS TRUCK" Then show them the list of things you done to it that your gonna write tonight. LOL

For the past hour I've been on the phone with my uncle who is a mechanic, and he said he would do all the work on my bro's sportage for FREE!!!! As long as we buy the parts. :yahoo:

So I figure I'll just buy the wheel bearings and timing belt for the thing and pay to get it aligned for sake of keeping my truck. It shouldn't be more than like 250 or 300 for all that.

Beats losing my baby and having to buy a new one.

Exactly. Make sure you add labor to the cost that you saved yourself. By me, your bother shouldn't even get the keys. Your parents gave YOU the keys and the Ranger to keep. NOT your brother. And besides, he wasn't careful enough with his ride to warrant getting yours. His fault for the wreck, his problems, not yours.

If the title is in your name and you pay the insurance fully, then it is a no arguement contest. Trucks your, 100%. Your brother needs to find a different ride to jack.

This is why I bought my own cars. I have never wanted anyone else to control what I do with my stuff.

I guess thats a great way to go, if you actually have that ability at 16. Not everyone has their parents give them a car, however not everyone has the ability to go and buy their own either, even if they are working. FOr now maybe we can try to help him come up with a solution to his problem instead of flaunting our successes in the past.

I was always handed keys and said "if you can make it run, you can have it"

My parents always held my titles for insurance reasons, but the vehicles were mine to do with as I pleased. I paid parts, labor if I couldn't do it myself, and insurance (until I got into college, then my parents picked that up to help me out).

Well.....I took the advice of makin a list and I have my uncle helpin out by being able to fix my my bro's car. So I get to keep my truck!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo: :headbang:

When my dad saw how much work I actually put into it, he was instantly on my side and defending me. Now my brother is kinda pissed because he won't have my truck. But hell I don't care one bit lol, he should be happy I'm paying to get his car fixed for him.

But all in all the Mazda is still mine. Thanks for the idea feelnfroggy, I would have never thought that would have worked. :icon_cheers:

My brother has totaled 5 vehicles.

And your parents are stupid enough to keep giving him vehicles to destroy?

Sorry man, but there's no other word for it.

Ah hell my parents gave him the first car the other four were his. No way they would keep giving him cars. That would indeed be stupid... which they are not. :D

Glad to know I helped you out. 3 yrs on this damn site and I have finally contributed in a positive manner, LOL. Advice number two, DONT LOSE THAT LIST:-)
