I swear I can't be content with what I've already done... gotta keep adding on. I decided to cut out the section of my 60/40 seating in the ranger to make two bucket seats. Here's what's going in its place:

I didn't take any pictures of making the mock-up, but I used the green foam stuff from hobby lobby that you stick in pots to put flowers in. It shapes extremely easily, and holds together with spray adhesive.

Sanding the drywall mud for a smooth finish:

Hopefully the last bit of wet mud to finish the edges:

I'm fiberglassing over this to create a base mold, then fiberglassing inside that mold to create the actual console. That way it will be the same size as this piece and I can make more if I want to.

And a photoshop of about what it will look like when finished:

I'm going to overlay the finished piece with red fabric similar to the seats, and add in two cupholders and a storage compartment on the top, a couple 12v plugs on the right side along with a 110v inverter plug. oh yeah!

sweet, comin along good!

Pretty sweet, lots of work.

You oughta at least make a openable compartment or a cup holder or two tho! :icon_thumby:

did either of you read his post?

Doh!

Missed the last part!

thanks guys, glad you all like it. i've been super busy with work and kinda forgot about this posting :icon_confused:

I've got the first two layers of glass on the mold now, i'm waiting to get more material to make it thicker. I got the material for the shift boot also. more pics when I get more done!

Update:

I didn't take pictures of the fiberglassing around the mold, or digging all that green s*** out of it lol, but here's after three layers of glass:

My friends dad's helping with the glaze coat after body fill:

cupholders, trimmed them down from some in the kitchen cabinet (sorry momma) and used a piece from a beer cuzie:

Molded in the 3-way accessory jacks:

I also molded in a small power inverter next to the 3-way 12v's, and its currently drying with a coat of rubberized undercoating. Once it finishes drying it's getting hit with red and black paint to match my truck.

More pics tomorrow (or later tonight)

finished:

WOW, great work!! Now make me one:D

thanks!

And it took sooo long (mostly because I'm OCD when it comes to this kind of stuff) I don't know if I want to undertake another one haha
