Work boots?

Belleville, Welco, Bates, Altima. Can't compare them to anything but themselves, but at the low cost of nothing i can't complain.

cat boots, ive been wearing the same pair for 2 years now, my feet stay nice and dry, is always comfortable, and they come with some sort of crazy long warranty on them too

whats this warranty you speak of ive tried lookin online but cant find nothin about it. I have a pair of cats and for the first 11 months they were the best boots i ever bought but now the souls are peeling off. any info greatly appreciated

Back in my more frontier days in Alaska I swore by Redwing and still do for their purpose, I was logging, goldmining, heavy equip and a hotshot wildland firefighter among a dozen other things you had to do to survive the bush. I was on one fire and a dude wasnt tucked right in his boots and stepped in two foot of boiling sand and it filled his boot, his laces melted and I was cutting them off while he was screaming and the other crew were holding him down, you could smell his meat literally cooking. After that I switched to Whites knee high linemans boots just like these. I really like my Danners too.

I heard that Red Wings were the cats meow. Boy have I been disappointed. I climb telephone poles for the phone company in michigan. 10 below with the windchill and 12 inches of snow is not uncommon. I walk through back yards in snow up to my knees and mud and water all spring. Not to mention the climbs when you get to the poles. They are probably excellent for shops and not as extreme conditions, but they leak like no other unless I treat them every other day. They are quite comfortable but this is my second pair in less than 2 years and won't spend the money again. They are not good boots if you are around water alot! JMHO

Red Wings are the best boots I have ever owned. I work in a tire and repair shop, and my boots get beat on all day. Drag the toe on the ground, spilled hot oil, road grime and salt, you get the picture. Other than the few small cuts on the toes the boots still look and perform like new, the leather hasn't broken down one bit. I would have destroyed two or three pairs of Timberlands with what these boots have been through and they still have plenty of life left in them.

russel boot, redwing, cat, lacrosse...

whatever you do, go with a QUALITY boot, it pays for itself because you dont have to replace them as often and you are comfortable longer...

if your feet swell and get sore because you bought cheap boots and you have to go home and ice them, you lost more money in that ONE DAY of work than the origianal price difference on the cheap vs "expensive" boots...

or you could look at it this way, life is short, thats why i own snap-on tools, drive a custom ranger, sleep with hot chicks, wear premium clothing and footwear, eat the finest food and sleep in a soft comfy bed...because life is too short to go through it dealing with cheap crap and ugly chicks..:icon_thumby:

I've had CATs I liked them but I moved on simply cause they was old I actually still have'em. saw them in a old bag full of old shoes I thought about taking them out of retirement but now that I look back I can't remember if they are steel toes. I might look into some new CATs. Still on the fence on this. BTW I won't need to worrie about extreme temps I work in a temp controled building it stayes 65-70 degrees all year long, I work around some water and antifreeze but not enough to worrie about it they'd get greasy and dirty at the most. They biggest thing for me to worry about is glass I walk on broken glass all day long and theres a chance of glass falling on me and my feet hince the steel toe requirement. It's mostly tempered glass so it brakes into tiny sharp pieces. I half to craw into glass presses to fix the unload robot or to work on the mold and there is usually a couple inches of broken glass I walk and crawl on. I half to wear thick kevlar gloves and arm guards to help protect me from cutting myself. So I need boots that will hold up from broken glass and some heat. Yea I make auto glass for a living.

i've really like my carhart boots. i actually end up wearing them after i get home from work, almost until i go to bed.

no matter what you get, take care of them!

every 2 weeks, i clean mine with a spray bottle of saddle soap, then condition with mink oil. spend last winter in the grounds dept spreading ice melt (salt will tear up boots in a hurry), and cleaned them once a week then. still wearing them everyday for over a year now. plenty of tread, same laces, still waterproof

Red Wings HANDS DOWN!!!!

I own two pairs: model 1206 (6 in, 300 gram insulation and non-steel toe) and 2211 (8 in, steel toe, 600 gram insulation) and love them both to death!!

If you get them oiled (my local Red Wing shop does this for free) they will wear like iron! Mine are now a rich dark brown and feel like heaven!!!

Another great thing about Redwing is their service. The guy at my local store, Joel, is a real gem. I have popped in just to shoot the breeze and saw him fishish up with a customer he'd been working with for close to THREE HOURS to find the perfect fit. Now that's service!!!!

Did I mention that 99% of their boots are still made in the USA????

Red Wings and Georgia Boot are my picks. However, under 100 dollars? Not gonna happen for any boot you actually want to wear.

As far as oil, get Sno-Seal beeswax and use it as per directions. I have a pair of Rocky Bear Claws that look like new after 4 years because of that stuff.

That is why I have the rocky Bear Claws. I haul petroleum and frankly I am in nasty shit 90% of the time I am out of the truck.
