Wont accelerate. help?

just got an 84 ranger, 2.8 v6. its my first project, and im stuck. im having problems accelerating, when i give it gas it doesnt wanna go very fast, it is carb, and ideas let me know.

check the ignition timing and the function of the throttle linkage to start with. does it cut out or backfire? or just have no power?

Yea put it on a timing light and pull the codes I believe any parts store can pull the codes for you maybe unplug the battery for 15 mins to reset hard values will help If you haven`t done so yet

it does cut out sometimes like its getting too much gas and being flooded.

Yea does the choke open all the way when warm
