Wohlf 16's 99 Ranger build

Ive got 8 inch lift skyjacker shocks for the rear just need to weld tabs on the 60. For the front I took the shock tower off a super duty. Have some old stock rear shocks I might try to begin with.

o i thought you would have much longer travel than that. ive got 10 inch shocks and they seem too short because i havent fully flexed it out yet, need to cut my fenders more first. but the reason i say that is because your truck seems more flexy than mine so i thought you would need more, but keep us posted on how those shocks work out for ya

I had them on my last setup and they were almost bottomed out with the truck sitting level. Probably would have been more like a bumpstop then a shock. Dont know tho cause I broke it before I got to actually play with it.
Really need to install the shocks and eliminate the blocks. While we were driving to the mud bog, which is a gravel road that goes straight up hill, I had to stop and have my buddy get out and lock my hubs in cause I couldnt keep the ass on the ground. Was havin hop and axle wrap like a son ofa. Hope to work on that this weekend. Will update if more progress is done or random wheeling happens this week.

Looks sick!!!! Glad to see this thing out and about. I have to agree with previous posts, your shocks are going to limit the shit out of your travel. You need something with at least 14", and that would be a minimum. I'm thinking about swapping my rears out for a set of 63's, and I have 12" triple bypasses and my truck is no where near as tall as you are. Wanted to add another thing i noticed. The reason your tires are so far is your wheel backspacing. I am running full width axles and I have a really shallow dish, so my tires stick out about as far as yours did with the D44 setup.

Now if I can just get my pile of shit off the rack and on the trail I'd be happy. Trucks been going through the SAS for going on 7 months now....

I took the truck to the same place where I flexed it last time and I couldnt stuff the tire. Bottomed out on the shock. And I busted my welds off the other shock tab! Oh well, I just slapped them on there. Im thinkin about pullin the bed off and lookin for a different place to locate the shocks. I think they will work fine its just placing them somewhere so that they can be used to their full potential.
Got a neighbor thats gonna set my gears up for me. Puttin in 5.13s. Keepin them open for now. May do a no slip in the rear later. Still want it to funtion as a truck that can be driven on the street.
Update when updates arrive. Hope to be thrashin on her shortly.
And dont get frustrated about 7 months, hell Ive had my Ifs torched out for 2 years one month and one week today. Its had about a total of 25 miles driven on it in that time. I almost scrapped or parted the dang truck out almost a dozen different times. Wife talked me out of it every time. Shes pretty cool.

Got the other shock rewelded on. Prolly still fall off. And to answer bozone Im using the shock mounts off the 9 inch and the stock shock mounts on the frame.
Welded in a patch where I got cut off tool happy to put in the manual t-case shifter in.
Reinstalled interior. Looks a lot cleaner now.
Installed fire extinguisher holder in back seat. Now I need a fire extinguisher.
Installed CB.
To do:
Gear install
Install f150 drag link and tierod
Eliminate blocks or get one 4 inch block
Make some traction bars or somethin. Has axle wrap like crazy!
get 2 new bleeders for driver side
Paint it
Prolly more

o man you gotta get some new shock mounts for the frame! i got mine touching my bed, as high as possible without going through it!

haha yeah i figured id check out your build online so i could fill in some of the gaps i missed in person lol. Times were tuff i had to sell the ranger but seein yours all the time makes me want another one! and as far as my welds go, give me a break it was my first time and they were pretty good by the time the day was done buddy. Ps. you need to add 2 sets of traction bars to that honey do list the 1ton needs em too...and a few other things too hahaha

Well havent done much to the ranger except finish high steer for the most part. Made a drag link out of 1/4 inch dom and my tie rod is off of an old f150. Going to eventually make my tie rod out of dom with heims as well. Also put shocks on the front. Took some pics today of it. I live in my parents old house on one end of 20 acres and my parents built a house on the other side. Well back in the day my dad used to throw scrap out in the back of the woods so me and my buddy took the danger back to retrieve it. Did exceptionally well even with the 3.54s. It was tight and picked up some scratches but I feel a little more confident about the welds now. Landed pretty hard a few times goin over some fallin trees and everything held together. Heres a couple crappy cell pics. If I get motivated tomorrow I will take some better pics.

Have my 5.13s in boxes waitin for my neighbor to install them for me. Hes done it a couple times and for $300 to install its not worth the headache to try it for the first time on an actual vehicle. Figure it would be a little tougher than doin it on a work bench like I did in class. Plus hes pretty damn good. He has a jeep with a 454 bored over to a 460 somethin on a dana 60 14 bolt combo that runs less than 4 secs at the mud bog. Have to post a video of it.
